Upcoming Work:
Weather permitting, the first two layers of new asphalt shall be placed on the west half of 6th Street SW starting Thursday, August 4, 2022. Asphalt placement will start just north of Wilson Avenue and proceed south. We expect initial asphalt placement to extend to approximately 29th Avenue SW. Remaining asphalt from 29th Avenue to south of 33rd Avenue and the final layer of asphalt will be placed at a later date.

Traffic Restrictions:
  • The current traffic pattern on 6th Street SW consisting of single-lane traffic in each direction in the east half of 6th Street will remain unchanged during asphalt placement.
  • When asphalt is placed across the Wilson Avenue intersection, additional traffic restrictions lasting approximately 6 hours during the mid-day traffic lull will be in effect. During this time, traffic on Wilson Avenue coming from I-380 will be able to turn left or right onto 6th Street to go north or south respectively. Traffic from the west will need to find alternative routes. Flaggers, barricades, and signage will be used to direct traffic.
