GIVEAWAY: Win Tickets to Springfield Utility Board's Light of Liberty
Summer has (unofficially) begun, and the MWMC is here to make it a great one through our exciting Summer of Giveaways series! Throughout the summer, we'll be giving away tickets to some awesome events and other family-friendly activities, through both our newsletter and social media channels.

Today, we're excited to launch our first newsletter giveaway! We'll be giving away two tickets to the Springfield Utility Board (SUB)'s Light of Liberty Celebration on July 4 to one lucky Water Wisdoms Newsletter subscriber.

If you’re receiving this email and are already subscribed to our newsletter, we’ve automatically entered you into the giveaway as a thank you for following along with our monthly updates. Those not already signed up for our e-updates who subscribe by 11:59 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday June 14, will also be entered. A winner will be selected and notified Wednesday, June 15. Encourage a friend or family member (someone who would take you if they win 😊) to subscribe to our newsletter too and increase your chances!

The MWMC is a proud sponsor of Light of Liberty, which supports SUB's Project Share program helping customers with past due bills. The event will include live entertainment, food vendors, and of course fireworks! To learn more, click here.

MWMC Earns Platinum Peak Performance Award for 15th Year
The MWMC is excited to share that we've earned a Platinum Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies for the 15th year in a row! This prestigious award recognizes the MWMC's efforts to achieve 100% compliance with our water quality permit for operating our community's regional wastewater treatment plant.

We are committed to protecting the community's health and the environment by providing high-quality wastewater services to the Eugene-Springfield metropolitan area, and are thrilled to have our hard work and consistency recognized through this award. Thanks to our hardworking team for all that they do to clean water and protect the Willamette River 24/7/365.
MWMC Biocycle Farm Poplar to be Sold at BRING Recycling
For the first time, poplar lumber from the MWMC's Biocycle Farm will soon be available to the community for purchase at BRING Recycling! This exciting new partnership brings sustainability full circle from waste to a wood product ready for use by local builders.

The MWMC Biocycle Farm is located just east of Highway 99 across from the Eugene Airport. It’s a 400-acre tree farm that uses biosolids generated from the Eugene-Springfield area as fertilizer, along with recycled water from the MWMC's wastewater treatment plant as irrigation. The trees are hybrid poplars which are planted specifically for their ability to grow rapidly. They're harvested every 10-12 years, and the lumber that will be sold at BRING was part of our harvest from last summer.

Poplar from the Biocycle Farm can be used in a variety of applications including furniture, trim, molding, and siding. Local builders, craftspeople, and architects will love this lightweight and light-colored wood. It is easy to work, holds a variety of stains, and looks great with a clear coat.

Did You Know?
Did you know that the MWMC offers a program to offset regional System Development Charges (SDCs) related to small homes?

Builders of small homes in the Eugene-Springfield area whose projects meet eligibility requirements can apply through their respective city to have their regional SDCs covered by the MWMC. At our May MWMC meeting, the Commission voted to extend the project for another year.

It's part of our ongoing efforts to support affordable housing and infill development as important community issues. We're excited to continue offering support through the Small Home SDC Project.
