Well, here we are again, another busy month gone by but looking forward to the spring and summer months ahead! I hope many of you are beginning to experience a more normalized work environment from the pandemic as the past year has clearly been a challenge.
On this end, matters are moving along nicely with our annual NETS Strength IN Numbers ® Benchmark initiative as members are in the process of submitting their organization’s road safety data. Fleet safety impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic will be carefully analyzed as part of this year’s statistical review and we look forward to sharing the results later in the year. If you are not currently a NETS member, there is still time join and participate in this year's benchmark process. I encourage you to explore the membership section of our website for additional details.
Lastly, I am pleased to also share news of two upcoming road safety campaigns which you are sure to find valuable for use across your organization. Earlier in the month NETS launched our first ever Employer Heatstroke Prevention Campaign designed to call attention to the critical issue of child vehicular heatstroke deaths – especially as we approach the hot summer months. May 1st is a also National Heat Stroke Prevention Day and I encourage you to utilize these campaign materials at any time, not just on May 1st.
Additionally, May also brings United Nations Road Safety Week May 17-23 dedicated to the critical issue of SPEED and the devastating impact and elevated risk that speed has on roadway crashes. I urge everyone to explore the many campaign resources available via this initiative and communicate across your organization.
Thanks again for your dedication to road safety and I wish everyone continued success.
Drive Safely!
