Streamlining Operations
Following a multi-departmental reorganization to better serve the community, the Town of Mount Pleasant has launched the Engineering and Development Services Department, while also reorganizing the Planning Department.

Face Covering Proclamation
As COVID-19 continues to expand across South Carolina with localized person-to-person spread creating an extreme public health risk, Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie enacted an emergency proclamation requiring the wearing of face coverings in certain circumstances.

The proclamation became effective on November 15 at 12:01 a.m. and will expire 60 days later.

Public Notice For Non-Disaster Hazard Mitigation Assistance
The Town of Mount Pleasant is coordinating with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and South Carolina Emergency Management Division to apply for non-disaster Hazard Mitigation Assistance funding through the Federal Emergency Management Administration’s Flood Mitigation Assistance and Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities grant programs.

Restaurant Week 2021
Restaurant Week 2021 begins on January 7 and ends on January 17. Local restaurants are already announcing their Restaurant Week menus and deals. Click the button below to find Mount Pleasant restaurants that are serving up big deals.
More ways that you can help support local businesses during the holidays and new year include:
  • Purchase gift cards for your family or a friend's favorite restaurant or store.
  • Celebrate 2021 with to-go or take-and-bake meals from local restaurants.
  • Many local businesses are offering free shipping or other incentives to shop online.
  • Find fun workout programs at local gyms to accomplish fitness resolutions.
  • If shopping in person, call ahead to find the best times to shop or ask about curbside delivery.
  • Remember to search social media for local business promotions.
  • Make a New Year's resolution to shop and buy local in 2021.

Mount Pleasant Council Members Kathy Landing, Gary Santos, and Laura Hyatt, along with Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce Director of Development Rebecca Imholz, joined owners Emarie June and Mary White at the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Straccio Rico, located at 1405 Ben Sawyer Blvd. 
Your CBD Store
Mount Pleasant Council Member Gary Santos, and Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce President Shane Griffin, along with co-owners Naomi Lamb and Redrick Dean, attended the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of Your CBD Store - Mount Pleasant located at 732 S. Shelmore Village Blvd Suite 102, Mount Pleasant.
Ivybrook Academy
Principal Heather Calhoun and Vice Principal Laura Roach, along with Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce President-Elect Jennifer Maxwell, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Ivybrook Academy, located at 1475 Long Grove Dr., Mount Pleasant, SC.
Oasis Family Dental Care
Dr. Anna Borden, along with Mount Pleasant Council Member Gary Santos, and Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce Director of Development Rebecca Imholz, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Oasis Family Dentistry, located at 1127 Queensborough Boulevard Suite 107, Mount Pleasant, SC. 
CDBG Request for Applications
Charleston County announced a request for applications for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The application due date is Thursday, January 7, 2021, at noon. Late applications will not be accepted.
Mobile Office Hours
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my mobile office hours have been postponed until March 2021 in an attempt to prevent the spread of the virus. I look forward to connecting with you next year.
