"For All That Is Our Life"
Paying attention to what makes you feel grateful can be an effective antidote to constant worry and uncertainty...it even helps with anger and frustration (sometimes). Today, gratitude stories from life in congregations, and the remarkable lessons we teach each other.

A FUUSB Guide to Online Giving
Christina Fulton, Director of Operations & Finance

During this time of quarantine, many of you have been deciding to make your pledge and other gifts to the Society online. This is a wonderful idea that we support wholeheartedly. Giving online is safe and it cuts down on administrative time processing checks. So if you're considering this way of giving, but you're still a bit confused, here are the basics:

Where to set up your gift - If you are a member of the congregation and have a Realm account, setting up your giving from your Realm account is the best option. Just log in to your Realm account and click on Giving. From this spot you can either make a one-time gift or set up automatic payments. If you do not have a Realm account, you can always make online gifts directly from our website: uusociety.org/donate From this location you can also make a one-time gift or set up automatic payments.

How to make sure your gift is credited to the right fund - when you set up online giving, there are several funds to choose from. Here is a guide to those funds:
  • Angel Fund - This fund helps to replace pledge income lost due to COVID-19. (This is applied to the 2020/2021 fiscal year.)
  • Share the Plate - This fund is like putting money in the basket on Sunday mornings; it is split 50/50 between the Society and a non-profit.
  • 2019/2020 Pledge - Gifts to this fund will be credited to your current year pledge.
  • Gift - All to FUUSB - Gifts to this fund will go to the current year general fund.
  • 2020/2021 Pledge - Gifts to this fund will be credited to your pledge for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020.
  • Youth Group - Gifts to this fund will be used to support our Youth Group.
  • Boston Trip - Gifts to this fund will be used to support our youth going on the Boston UU History Trip.
  • Discretionary Fund - Gifts to this fund will be used to assist members of our community with personal financial needs.
What methods of giving do you accept? - We accept credit cards, debit cards, or automatic debits from your savings or checking account. There are fees involved with all these types of giving, but the fee is smallest for automatic debits from your bank account. If you would like to cover the additional fees, you will be given the opportunity to do so while setting up your gift.

How often can I give? - You can make one-time gifts as often as you like! If you plan to set up automatic giving, you can choose to give every week, every two weeks, every month, twice a month, or every three months.

Can I give to more than one fund at a time? - Yes! You can choose which funds you would like to give to and how much you would like to give to each fund. For instance: you could set up a weekly automatic gift with $15 going to your pledge, $5 going to Share the Plate, and $5 going to the Youth Group.

Can I text my gift? - Yes you can! You can text a gift to FUUSB at any time by texting Steeple to 73256. You will be given the opportunity to give to any of the above listed funds.

If you ever have questions about online giving, please contact Christina at [email protected]Thank you so much for your generosity and support of FUUSB!

New Online Drop-In Chalice Circle

The 4th Knotty Conversations Webinar is happening today, April 30 from 7-8:30 p.m. The topic is "Following the Leadership of People of Color." Why is this principle important and necessary? And what are some best practices congregations might consider to address power differences rooted in a history of injustice? Join us to find out.

Due to COVID-19 we are not able to gather at the UU to watch the webinar together. Please join us from your home by registering at:
The members of the Racial Justice Team look forward to participating along with you.
