Greetings Tougaloo College Campus Community!
As we follow Jackson Mayor Chokwe Lumumba and Governor Tate Reeves' shelter-in-place orders, remember that the College's core services will remain available via internet, phone and email to ensure that our business services continue. Essential staff members have been asked to report to work, and based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, should wear non-medical masks and gloves, along with continued hand washing and social distancing.

While Tougaloo College is committed to preventing the spread of COVID-19, the Eagle Queen is still making great strides to preserve and advance excellence. Here are a few notable accomplishments for the College:
  • As remote instruction continues, Tougaloo College is expanding social distancing efforts that include modifying programs by offering various virtual services for our students. Join us every Friday on Instagram Live at 12 p.m. (CST) for Friday Live with Tougaloo's Office of Enrollment. Current and prospective students are encouraged to join in the conversation @tcrecruitment (https://www.instagram.com/tcrecruitment) regarding the enrollment process and student life at Tougaloo. Many thanks to all of last week's participants. We had excellent conversation!

  • Our students are preparing for next academic year as many of our campus leaders campaign for Student Government Association elections, which will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Check out our student leaders’ video campaign messages on Instagram @eboardtougaloo (https://www.instagram.com/eboardtougaloo). Tougaloo is synonymous with leadership and our students are ready to work hand-in-hand with our administration to preserve and advance excellence.

  • The College is providing virtual professional development training to faculty members who are using diverse modalities during instruction. Faculty members are encouraged to contact Professor Frederick L. Hunter, Director of QEP and Faculty Development, at 601-977-7891 or fhunter@tougaloo.edu regarding various training resources.

  • The L. Zenobia Coleman Library staff is providing remote reference services to our students and faculty. Our reference librarians are awaiting the opportunity to assist you when you call 601-977-7706 or email libraryservices@tougaloo.edu

  • Tougaloo College students have obtained over $100,000 worth of UNCF scholarship funding for the second year in a row. Congratulations to our students for applying for and obtaining these funds. Many thanks to our faculty and staff members for encouraging students to apply for the scholarships.

Alumni, thank you for your inquiries regarding the ways in which you may assist our students during this pandemic. You should have received an email that encourages you to give to our TCNAA Alumni Chapters Challenge. We are raising funds to replace the floors and the roofs for two of our residence halls, AA Branch and Renner Hall. Click here for information and to give .
As we continue doing the work of Tougaloo College, don’t forget to reach out to one another virtually. We encourage you to remain prayerful and remember that God remains victorious throughout this time of uncertainty. Chaplain Maxine Bolden reminds us that she prays for our campus community daily. Part of that prayer is that you will know that you are not alone. All members of the Tougaloo College Campus Community are encouraged to experience Virtual Bible Study with Chaplain Bolden every Wednesday evening in April at 6 PM via the College's Facebook and Instagram channels (@tougaloocollege). Should you need immediate words of encouragement, contact Maxine Bolden, College Chaplain, at 601-977-7758 or by email at: mbolden@tougaloo.edu .

We encourage you to review the modifications that have been made by the College due to the current pandemic by visiting Tougaloo’s COVID-19 web page . Visit our website for the latest updates, where you can also find an archive of this and other correspondence from the College.

Thank you to every member of the Tougaloo College family for your diligence in carrying out the work of the College despite many challenges. If you would like to share a College-related accomplishment or brag on the stellar work of a Tougaloo College campus community member, send an email with the subject line Tougaloo College Good News to marketing@tougaloo.edu . We look forward to sharing more good news during this time.

The efforts of the entire Tougaloo campus community are commendable and appreciated.
