Christian Hardigree selected as next regional chancellor of University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus
University of South Florida President Rhea Law announced that Christian Hardigree will be the next regional chancellor of the USF St. Petersburg campus. Hardigree, who most recently served as the founding dean of the School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver, will start her new role at USF on July 1, 2022.

“I absolutely fell in love with the faculty, staff, students and community members I met at USF St. Petersburg,” Hardigree said. “It’s clearly a special place, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to lead such a vibrant campus. I can’t wait to get started and am honored by the confidence that President Law and other members of the USF leadership team are showing in me.” READ MORE

"Lost Voices" exhibit translates and digitizes America's oldest parish archive to provide rare insight into early Florida history
A new online exhibit launched by the University of South Florida's La Florida: The Interactive Digital Archives of the Americas will provide the public with unprecedented insight into the daily lives and relationships of the multi-ethnic population that comprised St. Augustine, Fla. from the 16th-19th centuries. New scholarship to honor outgoing Regional Chancellor Martin Tadlock
As regional chancellor, Martin Tadlock often talked about the financial struggles he encountered as a first-generation college student and how grateful he was for the scholarships that gave him the resources to complete his degree.

Now generations of students will be able to follow a similar path, thanks to a new scholarship named in Tadlock’s honor. Called the Dr. Martin Tadlock Endowed Scholarship, it will be based on financial need and available to full or part-time first-generation undergraduate students, regardless of major, on the USF St. Petersburg campus. DIAGNOSING DIMENTIA
$3.2 million awarded for the University of South Florida to contribute to development of blood tests for Alzheimer's disease
The University of South Florida received $3.2 million from the National Institute on Aging to investigate if Alzheimer’s disease can be detected early through simple blood tests.

The grant will expand the work of the Preventing Alzheimer’s with Cognitive Training (PACT) study, which is the largest primary prevention trial designed to test the effectiveness of computer-based training to protect against various dementias. One of the lab sites for the PACT study is located on the St. Petersburg campus. READ MORE

Longtime USF finance professor appointed dean of the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance
After a year-long search, the USF Muma College of Business appointed Gary Patterson, a longtime associate dean and finance professor, to lead the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance.

USF St. Petersburg campus connects to clean energy through community solar program
A new community solar program from Duke Energy will allow USF’s St. Petersburg campus to expand its investment in renewable energy while saving money and enhancing environmental sustainability.

By becoming a subscriber in Clean Energy Connection, the campus will be able to expand its renewable energy portfolio – by up to 6,753 kilowatts - and support Duke Energy’s reduction of greenhouse gas emissions at a fraction of the cost of adding more solar panels and arrays. READ MORE

USF Brewing Arts program partners with Yuengling to provide veteran scholarship
Military veterans looking to take their brewing skills to the next level can now apply for the Yuengling Veteran's Scholarship. The $5,000 award provides one veteran with full funding to attend USF's Brewing Arts program on the St. Petersburg campus, a 23-week course giving participants the foundational knowledge and hands-on training for a successful career in the craft brewing industry. Applications for the next session are being accepted through July 1. READ MORE

The international design science research conference DESRIST 2022 wrapped up on USF’s St. Petersburg campus after three days of keynote speeches and presentations from experts in the design science research field.
