Dear Blueprint Supporter,

I am pleased to reach out to you today to share the exciting news that the Maryland General Assembly overrode the Governor’s veto of HB 1300: Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.

As you know I have consistently been a supporter of education funding and last session I supported both HB 1300 and its companion school construction bill, HB 1 Built To Learn. HB 1300 will set Maryland on a path to be a leader in education in the nation with the goal of equalizing educational opportunity for all students in the state.

After years of disinvestment the goal of the Blueprint was to redress deficiencies in funding, especially compared to other states which continued to robustly support education initiatives and therefore are ahead of Maryland in performance, family satisfaction and teacher support. In the words of Victor Hugo it is absolutely true that, “He who opens a school door closes a prison.”

Thank you for reaching out to me to express your views. I do my best work when I hear from engaged constituents for whom I am most fortunate to serve.

Sincerely,
Geraldine
