Message from the Principal
Dear DHS Staff, Students, and Families,

Next Monday marks the beginning of our final month of the 2020-2021 school year! It is truly remarkable to think about the position we were in just a year ago - and the numerous twists and turns we took to get where we are today. Tomorrow's vaccination clinic is just another step in the right direction to resume normal operations per the Restore Illinois reopening plan. As a reminder, tomorrow is a synchronous, remote learning day, so that we may accommodate students and their parents/guardians throughout the day. Thank you in advance for your flexibility and understanding as we take this important step to protect our school community.

On a final note, next week also marks the beginning of Advanced Placement testing. Good luck to all of our students taking these exams! You've got this!

Sincerely,
Principal Kathryn Anderson

Important Events in May
Class of 2021 Graduation
The Class of 2021 Graduation will be held at Adams field at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27th. (The average DHS ceremony length is 90 minutes). The rain date is tentatively planned for Friday, May 28th at TBD time (weather dependant). Graduating seniors have received details about tickets, which are limited to parents/guardians. Additional details will be shared with seniors and their families in the coming weeks.

We will continue to post all information sent to senior families on our webpage, which you can find here.
Seniors Last Day of School - Monday, May 17th
On Monday, May 17th, all seniors (remote and in-person) are invited to attend the Class of 2021 Senior Celebration event from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the courtyard and student cafeteria. During this time, we will distribute caps and gowns, graduation tickets, awards & honors, freshmen advisory letters, and much more.

In addition, we want to celebrate your post-secondary plans! Be sure to wear your gear for next year (college, sports, military, GAP year, vocational and more!) and stop by for a yummy cupcake.

**Seniors, if you were unable to attend the Senior Sunset event, you can pick up your Class of 2021 yard sign in the front lobby. Otherwise, signs not picked up will be distributed at the Senior Celebration event.
Schedule Update:
Last Week of School
As a reminder, we will not have a traditional final exam week for the end of the second semester. Rather, each period (except EB) will meet just once during the final week of school. Due to the vaccination clinic, we needed to update the periods meeting on each day. Please see the google doc below for details.

Course Change Request Form
Although we are still navigating the remainder of the current school year, we are also planning ahead to the next school year. You received a message in early April with important details regarding study halls and course change requests. With the second round deadline on May 3rd, we are resharing the form for making course change requests. If your request is approved, you will receive an email. If your request is not approved, you will remain on the waitlist.
