Eblen Charities 2020 Annual Impact Report
Perseverance During a Pandemic
Last year brought unprecedented challenges to Western North Carolinians and to the nonprofits that serve them. Thanks to your help, Eblen Charities found ways to persevere!

Once the seriousness of COVID-19 was known, Eblen was forced to shift its emergency assistance delivery model from helping folks inside our office at Westgate Shopping Center to serving people in need by phone and email to keep the virus from spreading. Despite those changes, Eblen’s hallmark qualities of service with respect and compassion shined through.

As the effects of the pandemic worsened, more families found themselves in crisis, facing evictions or loss of heat and electricity.

Eblen’s caseworkers and front-desk volunteers stepped up to help people as quickly as possible with emergency financial needs like rent, heat and utilities -– basic needs most of us take for granted. We also helped the community with medication, transportation, food, clothing and more, thanks to generous donors like you.

While the pandemic severely impacted Eblen’s annual fundraisers, generous individuals, businesses and foundations came through!

As we reflect on Eblen’s service in 2020 and look ahead, we’ve begun this new year with hope and gratitude for your continued support!

With appreciation and best wishes,
Robin Boettcher, Executive Director

Jersey Mike's Month of Giving
March 2021
Day of Giving: March 31

Eblen Charities is joining forces with four Asheville-area Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants for the 11th Annual March “Month of Giving” campaign to benefit local nonprofits.

During March, customers can donate to Eblen Charities at participating Jersey Mike’s restaurants. The campaign will culminate in Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 31, when local Jersey Mike’s restaurants will give 100 percent of the day’s sales to Eblen Charities.

The participating Asheville restaurants are River Hills Shops, West Asheville, Hendersonville Road and the Rutledge Commons Shopping Center on Airport Road. These funds are used to help local families in the community with emergency needs such as, heat, housing, medical needs, and more. Prior to the pandemic, in 2019, $15,210 was raised for Eblen Charities through this campaign.

“Eblen Charities does some wonderful things for the people of Western North Carolina,” said local owner Patrick Dillingham. “We enjoy partnering with well-respected charities like Eblen. We would not be able to do so without the support we have received from our customers, as well as Jersey Mike’s founder, Peter Cancro. We look forward to raising money for Eblen Charities again this March during Jersey Mike’s Subs annual Month of Giving.”
