The Spokane Lilac Festival

"The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month."

Welcome to Spring – Summer! It is with a sad heart that we once again had to cancel festival week due to covid-19 restrictions. However, this has not dampened or spirits! As we move forward, we are finding opportunities for our Court to serve and experience some normalcy through working with Fairchild Air Force Base and participating in several parades that are scheduled throughout the summer and into fall.
We are looking ahead to working with the city and other groups in planning some festivities for the fall. We are honoring our teachers of the year this month through both virtual and some in person meetings.
We are thankful for all of the support of our Sponsors and our Directors as we move forward into 2022 planning a full Festival.

2021 President

Associated Garden Clubs of Spokane
Annual Plant Sale
Now Through May 8th
|
|
Did you know the Spokane Lilac Festival was started by the Associated Garden Clubs of Spokane way back in 1938? They wanted to highlight the beautiful lilacs that bloom every spring and showcase the youth of Spokane.
The AGC is still a large Partner to the Festival and host a luncheon in our honor every spring...well, you know when COVID isn't altering our plans. They are a long-time donor of our Royalty Scholarship Program and award an individual scholarship named the "Spirit of Lilac."
AGC is an organization of community members and individual garden clubs dedicated in continuing the growth of our community through grants, scholarships, education and events.
Right now they are holding their annual plant sale that helps them provide these grants to the community. Due to the times we are in right now, their plant sale is by appointment only. This is a fantastic opportunity to get those plants needed for your garden and yards while also helping out a great organization doing great things for our city. May we recommend the tomato plants?? They are the best in town!!
Please click the link below to learn more about the Associated Garden Clubs of Spokane and make an appointment for their plant sale (happening now through May 8th).
Thank you to all the Associated Garden Clubs of Spokane members; we can not wait to celebrate our Festival together again soon!!

In 'normal' times, this would be the busy season for our Royal Court. Getting ready to teach all the young princesses and princes how to host and attend a tea party, speaking and appearance engagements around town and gearing up for Festival Week. Of course, it's a bit different again this year, but the Court is still having fun and getting out in the community and we have started scheduling where we are headed this summer!
Keep scrolling to see just a glimpse of the photos the Court took a couple of weekends ago. To see all of them, click here! Thank you Monika at Hawkinson Photography for your time and beautiful work!
We hope to see you all this summer at one of the below community festivals and events and hopefully more as the year goes on! Of course, with all things 2021, these dates, events and appearances are subject to change!

T-Shirt Design Contest Winner
|
|
Thank you to everyone who entered our t-shirt design contest! We had so many wonderful entries to choose from. A committee of Lilac Directors and Volunteers had to make the difficult decision of picking only one and ultimately chose the above design by Chloe Carey.
Our VP of Merchandising, Stacey Kottwitz, is working with our apparel vendor to put the final touches on the design. This will be a limited edition shirt that will be sold on our website and upcoming 2021 events. Once available, we will post the link to order on our social media and website. Stay tuned!

Meet the Artist
Chloe Carey
My name is Chloe Carey and I am a student at Washington State University studying Advertisement. I was born and raised in Spokane, WA, and attended Northwest Christian for K-12 schooling. The Lilac Festival brings back many fond memories from my childhood. I loved being able to line the streets of Spokane with my best friends and celebrate everything that Spokane is and is becoming.

Although we haven't been able to host or take part in our typical events this year, we have been lucky to bring on four new Directors in 2021! We are grateful to our new Directors for coming on board during this unique time and diving right in!
Welcome,
