Meditation Moment
From the Pastor ....

Be still and know that I am God.
 (Psalm 46:10)
What an absolute joyous weekend here at OSLC! We had a lovely wedding, confirmation worship and Harvest Fest. The weekend was bursting with God’s abundance of love and joy. When Monday morning arrived, God blessed me with a Sabbath day of rest and renewal. I was so still on Monday morning that I fell asleep during prayer time as I relaxed and trusted in God’s care.
Creation also speaks of the rhythm of life. As the leaves on trees transform and let go, I am reminded of another way to translate Psalm 46:10. “Be still,” in Hebrew can also mean, “let go.” This is such a profound interpretation: “let go and know that I am God.” When we rest, this is an act of trust. All shall be well. God is in charge. The joyful energy of life can also find a renewed resiliency in slowing down and letting go.

Minnesotans also seem to know this truth as we approach MEA weekend. Initially, “MEA,” stood for “Minnesota Education Association.” Now this sacred “holiday” is affectionately referred to as, “Minnesota Excused Absence.” It is a time to catch our breath and trust in the Lord. May you find the peace and joy of rest and renewal. May creation be a reminder to us to let go, be still, and know that God is watching over all of us.

Help Support Mlafu Students!

For the past 20 years, our church has supported well over 600 secondary school scholarships to students from Mlafu, Tanzania. Without our help these students would not be able to achieve an education beyond primary school. We are now recruiting scholarship sponsors for the 2022 school year in Tanzania. A full-scholarship is $450 and a half-scholarship is $225. Any gift amount is also appreciated. If you are interested in joining this important ministry, please contact Sue Hedlund (suekhedlund@gmail.com or 651-303-8322) for more information. Pledges are needed by October 31.
Advent Teas

It’s hard to think that Advent will be here soon with these beautiful fall days, but the women of Our Savior’s are planning for the Advent Teas which will happen from November 29 – December 5. Six hosts and six leaders will be needed for these teas. If you would be willing to either host or be a leader for a tea, please let Becky Maier (jbmaier@hotmail.com) or the church office (info@oslcstillwater.org) know. Sign-up to attend the teas will begin on November 14.
