This leads to pairing teams with Advisors in the third week of February, by considering advisors' experience and each accepted team's business concept. Competition Training begins February 23. January was a great start to our competition season!

The Competition Season Opened on January 7 with our Virtual Competition Showcase - featuring competition alumni, sponsors, leaders and community partners. Immediately following that, we held our How to Apply Orientation for entrepreneurs interested in Applying.  Click Here for Showcase and Applicant landing page with Event Videos.

We also offered three Financial Webinars for Small Business Launch & Growth in January with event Partner SCORE
on January 14, 23 and 30, delivering three excellent live events with presenters David Regenbaum, Nanette Ray and Mo Tehrani.  Topics covered:  understanding the primary purpose of your business; how to generate revenues, understanding concepts such as burn-rate, break-even, cash-flow; determining cash needs of business, financing cash needs; and financial record-keeping.   Each Webinar also offered a live funding panel featuring five panelists representing Micro-lending SBA lending, traditional lending and certified public accountants to help participants prepare to develop funding relationships.

The annual HCC Business Plan Competition is for Proposed, Startup and Existing Entrepreneurs. All accepted contestant teams will get free training and advising late February through May to refine and polish their plans to start and/or grow their business.  The top five teams will win prize money!

All graduating teams feel like winners because they all come out with the greatest value, a stronger written plan, slide deck and video to pursue their business goals and to seek funding. In-kind prizes are also awarded to all graduating teams!
