Hello and Happy New Year Eastmoor Members!
With the days beginning to get longer and thoughts of spring right around the corner, I wanted to take a minute to reach out to our members with a few updates.
I'd like to start with a few financial facts.
As most of you are aware, the Denver City Council has passed an ordinance to raise the minimum wage for our well-deserving staff from the current $11.10 per hour to a mandatory hourly wage of $12.85, effective January of 2020.
The minimum wage will again increase to $14.77 in 2021, and yet another bump to $15.87 will occur in 2022.
While our hard-working staff deserves this wage increase, it leaves the clubs financials with a bit of a shortfall that needs attention. Over the past few meetings, the Eastmoor board discussed several ideas on how and when to increase dues.
We ultimately decided the best approach a small increase in dues annually, as opposed to a sharp increase in a year or two.
In addition, w
e will naturally be making adjustments to the budget to spread this financial responsibility
.
As such, your 2020 dues will be $945, a $55 increase from 2019. You can anticipate 2021 and 2022 dues to increase in a similar manner.
Board Treasurer Rich Bruns will send your statement on February 8, with all dues be paid in full by April 1.
We value and appreciate each and every member and I believe we have the best staff around, thanks to Pool Manager Kent Dertinger for his tireless efforts to train and retain our amazing staff!
Okay, now for some FUN updates:
SOCIAL: Social Chair Sarah Conley already has our 2020 social calendar up to date with all sorts of great summer activities!

TENNIS: Head Pro Ken Tronco and our tennis players big and small at Eastmoor have created the largest JTT team in the state of Colorado!
Between summer and fall, we enjoyed a total of 182 youth participants, up 30% from the previous year. Our adult teams also grew by 51 total participants. Truly, Eastmoor tennis is a force to be reckoned with!
Oh, as a reminder March 13 is deadline for team formation for Adult Spring League. We will send more details on how to join in February.
GENERAL: We are working on purchasing some new tables and are planning a few other improvements for warm weather activities.
Finally, I want to remind you that all members are welcome to attend the monthly board meetings. They are posted on the
Eastmoor Event Calendar if you'd like to join us.
We will also have open board positions for 20/21 season.
