USFSM Skills Lab Opens Its Doors
The USF College of Nursing unveiled its new nursing skills lab on the Sarasota-Manatee campus during a Jan. 15 grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

We welcomed the first cohort of 30 students in the Accelerated Second Degree nursing program at USFSM as they began the 2020 spring semester.

The World Health Organization has designated 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
Nurse Anesthetists Lobby in Tally
USF College of Nursing student nurse anesthetists attended CRNA Day 2020 on Jan. 27-28 at the state Capitol where they lobbied legislators on issues affecting CRNA practice in Florida.

They met with individual state representatives to discuss how House Bill 607 would increase nurse independence.

Members of the USF community, including nursing's Dr. Alicia Rossiter, USF president Steve Currall, and Rocky D. Bull celebrated the invasion of pirates at the annual Gasparilla Parade.
Week of Welcome, Spring Edition
The USF College of Nursing kicked off the 2020 spring semester by welcoming students back with a week of fun activities.

Students started the week with healthy snacks, learned about our graduate programs, and then won prizes for answering health trivia. On Friday, we provided students with lunch and resources to help manage stress.
Professor Appointed to USF Presidential Advisory Committee

USF College of Nursing assistant professor J anet Roman, DNP, APRN, ACNP-BC, CHFN, ACHPN, has been appointed to the USF Presidential Advisory Committee on Black Affairs.

Dr. Roman will advise USF President Steven Currall on matters affecting black faculty, staff and students. The 3-year appointment ends in 2022.
Professor Elected to Oncology Nursing Society Tampa Chapter

USF College of Nursing assistant professor Victoria Marshall, PhD, RN, has been elected to the board of the Greater Tampa Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society.

As a program director, Dr. Marshall will oversee the educational needs of the chapter.
USF Foundation Wins Silver CASE Award
Congratulations to the USF Foundation, who won a silver award in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III awards.

The award was based on communications for the Leaders in Care campaign.
Student Nurse Anesthetists Showcase Program During National CRNA Week
Nurse anesthesia students hosted an informational table Jan. 21-24 during the USF College of Nursing's recognition of National CRNA Week. The promotional week culminated with a bake sale on Friday.

The annual event educates students about the role CRNAs have in providing safe and effective anesthesia care.
CRNA Graduates Achieve Perfect First-Time Pass Rate on Exam
Congratulations to our December graduates of the nurse anesthesia program. The class posted an impressive 100 percent first-time pass rate on the National Certification Exam.
