Our GS-NCCP Community Updates
Dear Girl Scout families,

We hope you are staying safe! Here at Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, we have been committed to ensuring that you have everything you need to stay active and engaged within #OurGSNCCPCommunity. We continue to add new resources to our Girl Scouting at Home and Facebook page every week, and it has been great to see how we have all come together to make the best of a difficult situation. In an effort to keep you engaged and informed, we will continue to send weekly emails with everything you need to know to stay active within our organization, and most importantly, to have fun during your time at home!

See below for this week’s updates, and please reach out to our Customer Care team with any questions or concerns. They can be reached at helpdesk@nccoastalpines.org or 1-800-284-4475. We are in this together!

Camp 2020 Announcement
Unfortunately, due to the current impact of COVID-19 and the uncertainty of its continued trajectory and aftermath, all in-person summer resident and day camps and campsite reservations for this summer are cancelled. This decision doesn’t come lightly and is made out of an abundance of caution with our guiding principle of safety first. As much as we love summer camp, nothing compares to the importance of the health and safety of our girls and our entire Girl Scout family. All registered campers have been notified today with information about their full refunds.
Our program and membership teams are developing safe summer opportunities for Girl Scouts, including virtual events, series and troop meetings as well as unique virtual camp experiences and even more Girl Scouting at Home activities. Information on these experiences will continue to be added to the growing choices on our  Girl Scouting at Home  web page and a full schedule of summer opportunities with registration information will be available by June 1. If you have any questions, please contact our  Customer Care  team for assistance.
Virtual Program Aide Training
Girl Scout Cadettes can join us for our Virtual Program Aide Training week-long event May 11-15. Complete Program Aide Core training and explore what makes you a unique leader in your everyday life, and learn how to work with Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies and Juniors. Girls will need access to a computer and internet connection as we will meet as a group via Zoom once a day for one week. Sign up by April 29 th on our Activity Page .
Celebrating our Military Families
To celebrate Month of the Military Child in April and Military Appreciation Month in May, we're asking all GS-NCCP Girl Scouts who are military-connected to participate in a special contest. Share with us why you are proud to be a military child, what makes you special, or just tell us about your experience. Submit a short video or share a photo and writing a few sentences in a document. On June 1st, we will be selecting two winners at random for a $50 council gift card, and each girl that participates will receive FREE patch.
Letter Writing Service Project
Across the country and world, Girl Scouts have leapt to help others by engaging in wonderful acts of service and kindness. Girl Scouts’ letter-writing service project is a NEW way to continue to do good while social distancing! The idea is simple: Troops (and their friends) write letters to people in nursing homes, senior residences, and assisted living facilities, including the dedicated staff who are caring for them. This long-distance hug is a way to share your good thoughts with these vulnerable and loved community.
G . I . R . L . 2020 Update

The board also voted to cancel G.I.R.L. 2020, including the Global Roundtable. For all details and information, please visit GSUSA's recent update on their blog .
Media Girlz Applications
Applications for our Media Girlz team are open through May 31! This opportunity is available to rising Girl Scout Juniors through Ambassadors that have plenty of courage, confidence, and character and love to share their Girl Scout experiences with others. 15 girls will be chosen for the Media Girlz team for the 2020-21 program year and they will serve as the face of our council at local media opportunities, council events, and more.
National Volunteer Month
National Volunteer Month ends this week! If you haven’t already, show your favorite Girl Scout volunteer show much they mean to you by calling or video chatting with them or by sending them a card. Personalize one of our pre-designed card templates,   one for younger girls  and  one for older girls , or send them a virtual high five through our Encore Peer Recognition program . Our Girl Scout volunteers make our Mission possible and we truly appreciate all that they do.
