On Saturday, July 16th, The Village of Palmetto Bay and ArtSouth are proud to present Nancy Reyna's "Second Act" Art Exhibit at the Perrine Community House from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm.

To commemorate local artist Nancy Reyna, Mayor Karyn Cunningham officially proclaimed July 16, 2022, as Nancy Reyna’s “Second Act” Day in the Village of Palmetto Bay.

Ms. Reyna grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, but has lived in Palmetto Bay since 2003. After her husband passed away 25 years ago, she began painting as a way to recreate her life. She took a watercolor class at Miami-Dade College, and when her teacher moved away, Ms. Reyna took over and taught the class herself. Ms. Reyna focuses on flowers, leaves, trees, and other aspects of nature, bringing the foliage to life through the vivid colors on her canvases.

Mayor Cunningham’s proclamation praised Ms. Reyna for her accomplishments as a local artist, which includes participation in art festivals throughout Florida. The Mayor commended Ms. Reyna as someone who can “see beauty in a pile of leaves on the street,” according to her friends, and the Mayor hopes Ms. Reyna’s art inspires appreciation for nature itself along with the artists who recreate it.
