GO GREEN
The "Green Team" is forming.

"GREEN TEAM" WORKING GROUP
For decades, the United Church of Canada has been involved in social action for the benefit of planet earth (to read more, click here)....and in 2019, Canmore Town Council declared a state of Climate Emergency.

We are forming a working group at Ralph Connor (name yet to be determined), to engage in these issues, from the small ways we can make a difference by not using single-use items, to engagement in the larger issues.

First working group meeting scheduled this
Tue Feb 11 Upstairs 7:00-8:30 pm.

Contact Isabelle Ramsay at  redbelle_20@yahoo.ca.
GO GREEN TIP
Canmore Food Recovery Program
JOIN THE CANMORE FOOD RECOVERY PROGRAM IN THEIR MISSION TO RECOVER EDIBLE FOOD DESTINED FOR LANDFILL
Did you know that if the amount of food in landfill were a country, it would be the third leading 'country' contributing to climate change?

According to the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), Canadians waste $31 billion of food every year, 47% of which is wasted in the home.

We are a Non-Profit Incorporation working to reduce the stigma on Food Waste, and redistribute edible food to those who are willing and able to use it!

THE SCIENCE OF IT
Reducing Food Waste by half would prevent as much climate-affecting gases as taking every other car off the road.
THE NATURE OF IT
In the natural world, there is no such thing as accidental or misshapen. Food is meant to be eaten. Everyone deserves to eat well, and eat lots.
THE HEALTH OF IT
"Greens feed our souls, refresh our minds, and nourish our grateful bodies." Terri Guillemets
THE POLITICS OF IT
"Half the world wastes enough food to feed the other half."
- Charles Eisenstein
"You waste life when you waste good food."
- Katherine Anne Porter

NEW 2020 CHURCH DIRECTORY
A new church directory is "in progress". There will be a printed version as well as access to a secure mobile app website that will be updated regularly.

Emails from Instant.Church Directory have been sent out. All Members will be asked to upload their own photo and verify their personal information.

If members prefer, photos can be taken during coffee time after Worship on Feb 9. See Bob Aishford & friends with cameras ready.

Need more information: Please contact Karen Fraser at
(403) 852-2265 or Charlene Stanway at (403) 609-0548.

Updating the Directory has some nice side benefits as well. For example, we heard back from Jack Clipperton in Calgary - he and Jean send their best to RCMUC. So nice to hear from friends!

How can this change how we view one another, in all of our embodied and cultural diversity; What does this mean in the world we live in?"

Something a bit different: Stoney Nakoda language scholar Trent Fox, of Morley, has featured 12 Indigenous core values with traditional land photos in his just-published set of three posters. Trent is only a few months away from completing his PhD at the University of Calgary’s Werklund School of Education specializing in: “Preserving a Language, Preserving a Culture”.
