College Counseling Newsletter | April 27, 2021
From the Office of College Counseling
High School Families,

Can you believe that we have only 23 days left of school (or 32 calendar days if you are a Senior counting down toward graduation)?!

Naviance is the primary portal for communication from college counseling. Please make sure that mailer@email.naviance.com is on your safe email list to not miss any important emails from our office.

Warmly,
Jessica Woods

College Acceptances
Traditionally, May 1 is the national declaration day for colleges but we will celebrate Senior Decision Day on Monday, May 3. Our inaugural class of 2021 has been accepted to over 60 different colleges and universities across the Nation. Many of our seniors have decided where they will attend next year and some are still weighing out offers. We are very excited to celebrate the Class of 2021 and their decisions about next year!
Standardized Testing Information
Scores from the March 3 SAT School Day and PSAT 10 have been received and uploaded to student Naviance accounts. Juniors and sophomores can log in to their College Board accounts to access detailed score reports from the March testing date, and to link to free SAT practice through Khan Academy.

Upcoming national test dates for SAT and ACT:

June 5th SAT (registration deadline May 6)
June 12 ACT (registration deadline May 7)
July 17 ACT (registration deadline June 18)
August 28 SAT (registration TBD)

College Planning Sessions
JUNIORS participated in a College 101 workshop on Monday, April 26 and we covered:
  • How to stay organized -- the key to application success
  • Process for requesting counselor and teacher letter of recommendations
  • The importance of a resume/activities list

Students who wish to schedule an individual college advising appointment are encouraged to complete the Junior Planning Survey in Naviance. Once submitted, students should schedule an appointment with me. Parents are welcome to attend in person or by Zoom.

SOPHOMORES will participate in a college planning session on Thursday, April 29 during half of their HL class. During this meeting we'll introduce a new component to our college planning curriculum called the "College Match: A Blueprint for Choosing the Best School for You" by Dr. Steven Antonoff.
