For the weekend of August 22-23, 2020
Dear Friends,

It is hard to not mourn the loss of that which we are missing. Whether you are missing your morning routine, afternoon lunch breaks or even Sunday morning worship, the cooler evenings remind us that a new season is knocking; and from this unreal spring, and a surreal summer we start to move towards the new season of fall.

For me, the MN State Fair was the marking of this transition and I will be missing that along with our Block Party this year. From time to time I find the need to remind myself that regardless of what we are missing, we are living. Right here, right now.

This week we passed out backpacks for kids in need of school supplies. And if you, like me, were skeptical of the need for a backpack in a world of online of hybrid learning, I implore you to look into the eyes of a child receiving one for the first time or the relief of a parent who is in transitional housing. Thank you to everyone who helped equip 120+ students with new backpack. We need not look far to be reminded that our mission is a living mission and that we are renewed in it and through it with Christ each day.

Second Corinthians 5:17 talks about this life when it says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. Old things have passed away and new things have come.” And Jesus calls that life "abundant" in John 10:10.

While I believe many of us would redefine abundant living after the past six months, scripture reminds us abundant living is not found in our travels or what Amazon delivers at the doorstep. Abundant living is life in Christ through all seasons.

It is with this focus of Living In Christ that I share with you some important updates regarding our fall planning:

LIFE U- Weekly classes to deepen our commitment to Living in Christ. Learn from Seminary Professor and Old Testament Podcast Host Dr. Michael Chan and several of our St. Andrew’s pastors and staff as we apply faith to everyday life through the exploration of worship and prayer, study of scripture, sharing faith stories and serving in Christ. Fall Worship Schedule- Last week, our COVID-19 Response Team met and discussed state health data, summer in-person outdoor worship experiences, and summer on-campus weddings and funerals. Based on these discussions, we have decided we will continue to provide online worship experience indefinitely to move forward with planning for limited, in-person worship services, beginning Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13, with safety precautions in place. We recognize things may change, health data may look different in a week, or new information may surface that can't make that possible, but that's OK -- everything is tentative these days! Read COVID Response Update

Thank you for you patience and continued prayers as we move forward together in abundant life.
