COVID-19 Update

Principal Headd Addresses Marquette Community
Indiana Governor, State Superintendent Order Schools to Remain Closed through End of 2019-2020 School Year
To the Marquette Community:

Today, Governor Holcomb and State Superintendent Dr. McCormick announced that all school buildings in the state of Indiana will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. I speak for all Marquette Catholic teachers and staff when I say that we are deeply saddened by this news, but understand why this is necessary in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Marquette Catholic is a very special place and the separation from everyone - students and colleagues - has been difficult. We are so proud of the things our teachers, students, and staff have been doing during these unprecedented times. As I mentioned prior to the break, Marquette is made special by its students and staff, not its walls.

You may be left with many questions about what lies ahead for our school and students in these next two months. With the best interests of our students and staff our top priority, we will continue with our virtual learning plan as planned for after Spring Break. We want to reassure you that our commitment to our students has not wavered these last few weeks, nor will it in the weeks to come.

We will continue to proceed following guidelines from both the Catholic Diocese of Gary and the Indiana Department of Education. Once Holy Week and Easter have concluded, we will have further information to share with you. We are continually grateful for your partnership and support. Your family continues to be in our daily prayers.

Please continue to stay engaged with our school following Spring Break through our social media channels and website. Peace be with you as we move into Holy Week, the final days of Lent, and the Easter season.

May God Be with Us and Keep Us Safe,

Allyson Headd
Principal
