As Sexual Assault Awareness Month comes to a close, we encourage our community to find ways to practice self care. We are excited to offer two virtual opportunities to practice yoga with Elle Miller, a local trauma-informed yoga therapist, that taps into mind and body balance.

Our first opportunity, Therapeutic Yoga for Survivors, is happening this afternoon at 3pm. If you identify as a survivor please register at tinyurl.com/Survivor-Yoga. The second yoga session, Mind-Body Balance Yoga for the VT Community, is open to all members of the VT community and is taking place Friday, April 30th at 2pm. Women and Environmental Justice
In celebration of Earth Day we talked with Dr. Shannon Elizabeth Bell, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Sociology at Virginia Tech, about the ways in which environmental justice activism is gendered. Join us for this important conversation about the ways in which gender roles impact our ability to show up in activist work as well as ways that everyone can get involved with this important issue.

Anti-Oppressive Advocacy Training
Join us on Friday, May 21st from 10am to 3pm for this virtual training hosted by award-winning and nationally recognized advocate and educator Wanda Swan of Start By Talking LLC. & the Swan Center for Advocacy & Research.

This training examines work at the intersection of bias and efficiency and critiques the ways the anti-violence field holds space for White Comfort, White Supremacy, anti-Blackness, and the white-washing of itself as a means of disassociating from its problematic "handling" of its own Black-centered origin story.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month Book Club
Nationally, April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and we are recognizing SAAM 2021 here at VT. Join the Sexual Violence Prevention Council and The Women’s Center at Virginia Tech in learning more about sexual violence on college campuses as we read Sexual Citizens: A Landmark Study of Sex, Power, and Assault on Campus by Jenifer Hirsch and Shamus Khan.

Book Discussion Thursday, April 29th 11:00 am on Zoom. Register here.
