VALENTINE
Historical notes on Valentines date back to the 13th century when it was outlawed as “unchristian”.  One hundred years later, the Pope granted sainthood to St. Valentine and so the saga continued. Thru the centuries, Cupid, a naked cherub, was portrayed launching arrows at lovers. In 2021 St. Valentine’s Day is widely celebrated as a day to shower love and affection on the special people in our lives.

Pandemic or not, even masked and possibly virtually, let’s all celebrate Valentine’s Day with a special someone.

LET'S GET ARTSY
Multi-media artist Lucy Mueller’s sculpture “Red Frame, II in Red Sculpture Series” strategically sited in the woods on her property where she can "appreciate seeing something red outside her window during the six months of grayness called Winter”. Made from wood scraps, found objects and red paint. The spirits of all who notice Lucy’s creation as they walk by, are also lifted.
SNOW DAYS
There’s a lot of fresh powder piling up out there… that’s our cue to go outside and enjoy the bounty of Winter in NH.  Strap on the skis, skates or snowshoes, rev up the snowmobile, go ice fishing… or, in the meadow you could build a snowman!
Abbott Library
Sunapee’s Abbott Library has snowshoes and poles, as well as books, to borrow.
CAUTION: Please heed the LSPA’s warning when out on the lake: Lake Sunapee's "ice in" was officially declared on January 13th, 2021. Do get out and enjoy the wonder of the many frozen lakes and ponds, but please take precautions and be safe while recreating! Remember, "Thick and blue, tried and true - Thin and crispy, way too risky."
