How Netflix’s Potential Acquisition Of Roku Would Affect CTV Advertising
A deal, which Business Insider reports is being discussed, could offer “synergy upon synergy” by combining Netflix’s content with Roku’s ad platform.

The DL: Based on a new report from Business Insider, Roku has been discussing the possibility of being acquired by Netflix. In Q1, Netflix reported that it lost subscribers for the first time in over a decade. Netflix then announced they would use advertising for the first time on their platform, most likely by the end of the year. This is thought to be correlated to their plummeting stock. Roku has also lost stock, nearly 80% since July 2021. If Netflix acquired Roku, there would be a mutual benefit for both companies, especially as the introduction of advertising would give Netflix a new source of revenue. Roku also has its OneView ad platform, which could easily be the basis of Netflix’s ad stack. The acquisition of Roku could ensure Netflix stays as a top competitor in the CTV and AdTech world.
Does Your SEO Strategy Suck? Here's What To Do About It
Tom Welbourne, founder and director at The Good Marketer, looks at why your SEO strategies might not be working. He shares five things that could be going wrong - and what you can do to correct them.

The DL: The digital marketing world seems to always be changing and evolving, and SEO continues to be one of those tactics. Tom Welbourne shares the top 5 things that might be going wrong with your SEO approach.

First, he talks about the domain, you’ll want to make sure that your website is set up correctly, which includes embedding internal and external backlinks and do-follow and no-follow links. Google can provide some additional insights into your site and data on how old your site is, how many backlinks point to it, etc. You’ll also want to make sure that your site is mobile-friendly and preferably loads in less than 3 seconds. Make sure that you’re updating content to your website, but also that the content is of good quality, you want users to want to share your content, and share your website as a result.

Lastly, make sure that you’re using the right tools to measure your rankings, there are multiple tools out there that help you to perform analyses, give more data on your site, and perform keyword research.
Should You Use Google Ads Performance Max? Pros, Cons & Polarized Perspectives
Tech giants like Google and Meta (Facebook) have relentlessly pursued ways to make their ad platforms as low-touch and automated as sub-humanly possible.

The DL: Google’s Performance Max is an innovation in the digital marketing space that will play a major role in the future.  With Performance Max, every asset you have goes into a single “bucket”, including text, images, and videos. These assets are combined using machine learning to create customized, compelling ads that are delivered to customers across Google channels. Benefits of this approach include making advertising on Google easier for novice users and allowing advertisers to focus on strategic performance drivers. Drawbacks include the need for clear goals, less control under the hood, and limited visibility. Although experts disagree on the value of Performance Max one thing is clear; Google will continue down this path so getting ahead of this curve early is essential for Google Marketing Platform advertisers.
This Is What Journalists Really Want From PR Pros, According To Cision Survey
A new report from Cision reveals exactly what journalists want from PR pros — and how communicators can help make reporters’ lives easier and increase their chances of getting ink.

The DL: The struggle is real with your company's PR pro and the journalists that they're pitching to. Cision just released a report that helps reveal (or validate) what journalists want from the PR gurus, what makes their job easier, and the best way to communicate with them, which ultimately helps the chances of getting coverage.

  • Although images, b-roll, logos, original research, invitations to events, etc. are welcome, the press release is still number one on the list of what journalists want according to this survey. Also noted, the press release is still where many journalists get story ideas.

  • The next and often overlooked item at the top of the list for what makes the journalists’ job easier is understanding the journalist and their goals. Not just knowing the journalists’ target audience, but in addition, understanding tight deadlines and the need to respond quickly.

  • Lastly, when it comes to courtesy and professionalism, journalists only want relevant information and not to be spammed with stories. Right behind this important nugget was making sure PR pros are sending accurate and complete information.
