The Chicago sidewalk café season begins on March 1, and ends on December 1. Sidewalk Café Permits have a 12 month term, and must be applied for, and issued, every year.

As of January 1, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) is 57.5 cents per mile driven for business use.
