Stay Vigilant on Best Practices for Cybersecurity

by Eric Bielski
Information Security Manager

It is part of Rochester RHIO’s mission to offer a secure and highly available health information exchange to the community and its participants. This part of our mission aids in the assurances that healthcare providers can continue to provide timely and quality care to their patients. Please join us in contributing to patient information safety by following these basics:

  1. Email vigilance. Be extra careful when opening emails, links within emails, or attachments to emails. Authenticate with the sender by other means. For example, phone or text.
  2. Report suspicious behavior. Know where to report suspicious behavior within your organization and to relevant government agencies.
  3. Avoid personal use of an organization’s workstations. Social media and personal email present a greater risk to your organization’s infrastructure.
  4. Be cognizant of your surroundings when meeting in public spaces. Eavesdropping and shoulder surfing can lead to many different cyber threats.

If you notice any anomalies in your systems, please notify Rochester RHIO immediately.
