COVID-19 UPDATE
Merry Christmas Tabor Village Families and Friends!
Tabor Court Town Hall Meeting
Thursday, December 24, 2020
1:00pm - 2:00pm
In an effort to further our transparency, openness, and continually improve upon our communication, we will be holding a town hall meeting with all Tabor Court families tomorrow, December 24th at 1:00pm. This is just one of many ways we are offering better communication to families during this very challenging time. These meetings will be lead by myself, Dan Levitt, via ZOOM (video conferencing).

This town hall meeting will allow you to ask questions and express any concerns you may have. Please note that while we are always happy and available to address any questions regarding your loved one's health and well-being, we ask that you reach out privately at a different time to discuss these where confidential discussion is able to take place about your specific loved one's health.

Tabor Court Update
We are pleased to report that after testing both tenants and staff at Tabor Court, there have been no new cases of COVID-19. The one staff member who had previously tested positive is self-isolating at home on their way to recovery. Keep praying for Tabor Court tenants, staff, and families for their protection, safety, and health.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update
Initial immunizations in the Fraser Health region will focus on healthcare staff who work in long-term care facilities. We are pleased to report that vaccinations for Tabor Home staff members are well underway with more to come in the coming weeks.

We are strongly urging staff to get vaccinated with the hope and goal of having all staff, all residents and all families eventually vaccinated. This vaccine is our best defense against the virus and against any future outbreaks.

Tabor Home Outbreak Update
Our hearts go out to all those who have lost loved ones during this season. Our hearts are breaking alongside all of these grieving families. When residents move into a Tabor Village residence, they become like family. To lose one family member is heartbreaking, but to lose over twenty is a devastating tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with our entire Tabor family during this time.

  • Total cases since the outbreak: 92
  • Recovered: 68
  • Active cases: 0
  • Total COVID-related deaths: 24

Celebrating 100% Negative Test Results!!
We are pleased to announce that last week's COVID-19 testing had 100% negative test results! That means there are no new cases of COVID-19 in Tabor Home and we are on our way to de-escalation. Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support during this difficult time. We are so very thankful and can see the light at the end of this tunnel. We have another round of testing today for all staff and residents of Tabor Home just to be safe and sure. If this round also comes back with 100% negative test results, then we will soon be declared outbreak free.

Communication
Due to this fantastic news of de-escalation and negative test results, we will not be sending daily email updates moving forward, unless the need arises. We will go back to the once a week e-newsletter as before the outbreak. However, that does not mean we are any less available to you. Please do not hesitate to reach out at any time with any questions or concerns you may have. We are here for you always.

Merry Christmas!
We have been feverishly prepping all the stockings for residents this week and have already begun delivering. We cannot wait to share some photos with you. We are also serving a Christmas lunch for each residence.

We want to say a very special thank you to London Drugs for the abundance of gifts they gave to the residents/tenants. Between London Drugs generosity plus our Stockings 4 Seniors campaign, every resident/tenant of Tabor Village will be showered with abundant joy, love, and care this Christmas. A bright light at the end of a very difficult year. Thank you London Drugs, thank you to all of you and our greater community for donating, dropping off cards, and joining us in our endeavor to make Christmas EXTRA special this year for residents.

There's Still Time To Give Back!
We can change the future for seniors at Tabor Home.

This year has brought many unprecedented turns and challenges. Due to the pandemic, we had to temporarily pause public fundraising for the Capital Campaign. Yet, even with all that happened, you continued to generously give back to the seniors of Tabor Village, leaving us both inspired and grateful. As we look to the new year and begin to refocus on the Capital Campaign, and continue our search for a new Capital Campaign Manager, we know Tabor is in good hands with you by our side.

As you know, the current Tabor Home building is out of date, uncooperative with modern technology, ill-equipped to protect against infectious disease and presents an institutionalized environment for seniors and their families. We believe the current infrastructure played a major role in the outbreak we're facing and just goes to show how urgently needed this Home really is, now more than ever. With your gift, we can change the future for seniors at Tabor Home.

In order to ensure it's processed for 2020 tax receipts, we need all donations in hand before December 31st. As always, don't hesitate to reach out with any further questions or concerns, we're happy to help. Thank you for Caring from the Heart.

Your Capital Campaign Team,
Miriam Bozman, Michelle Whalen, and Bethany Somerville
