CLearn how to Fly Fish!!!
Join Eugene Fishing Scene for a beginner's fly fishing clinic upriver on the Middle Fork Willamette. This is an all inclusive opportunity. All fishing gear provided by Oregon Dept. of Fish & Wildlife and limited transportation will be provided for those without. The Middle Fork Boat Launch is an ADA Friendly area. LUNCH PROVIDED by Willamette River Festival!
WHERE/WHEN: Friday, July 22, 2022 | 10AM-2PM
Meet at Clearwater Park in Springfield at 10AM sharp - please note this is a location change from Valley River due to World Track & Field Championships. We will carpool from here to the Middle Fork Boat Launch near the old Dexter Hatchery and Dam.
WHAT: This is a great opportunity for beginner fly fishers! We will start with the basics, covering gear, rigging, and knot tying. You will also learn how to read the river, judge your back cast, where to make your first cast, and mending techniques. We will also address hauling, hook sets, and catch and release techniques.
Please bring water, snacks, waders or shorts/recreational pants and shoes that you can wear in the water. NO COTTON PANTS OR SOCKS PLEASE. You are also welcome to bring your owne fly rod, gear, and PFD otherwise let us know in your registration what gear we should have on hand for you.
