Summer School is an opportunity for high school students to:
  • clear incompletes from Spring 2020-Spring 2021
  • accelerate
  • or recover credits during the time between school years

This includes students who receive services via an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Face-to-face (F2F) and virtual offerings exist, and often provide students with a broader array of options than those available during the school year. The summer sessions are condensed versions of content provided during the school year, and students must have their course requests validated by their counselor before being enrolled. MHS 100th ANNIVERSARY:
ALUMNI FEATUREALUMFEAT
Victoria "Tori" Waldner, Class of 2011, is a professional basketball player playing overseas for the past six years. She currently plays for the first league Nördlingen Angels in Germany. She also played for Bamberg in Germany and played in Lemvig, Denmark for one year. Tori is pursuing her Masters Degree in Physical Activity and Public Health at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen, Germany and is a certified ACSM personal trainer. While living and studying in Germany, she has learned to speak German.

Tori attended Penn State University as a student-athlete, playing basketball while maintaining a 3.2 GPA and earning her degree in Kinesiology-Option Fitness Studies. During her freshman, sophomore, and junior years at Penn State, her team was Big Ten Conference champs and battled in the NCAA tournament making it to the sweet sixteen. Tori made Academic All-Big Ten for three years. She was Vice-President of the Penn State Student Athlete Advisory Board her junior year and President her senior year. She was also awarded the Sportsmanship Award her senior year and was on the Homecoming Court. Tori was an active volunteer/buddy for the LifeLink program at Penn State and was chosen to attend the WBCA "So You Want to be a Coach" program at the Final Four of the NCAA tournament her senior year. She also played basketball for two summers for the St. Louis Surge in St. Louis, Missouri.

At Milton, Tori, at 6' 5" was a standout basketball player for the Lady Eagles. She earned All-Region 6AAAAA first team honors as a senior, was selected to the State All-Star team as a senior, was a 2011 McDonald's All-American nominee, led the Eagles to a 22-5 record and the Elite 8 in the State Championship playoffs in 2011, averaged 12.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in her senior season, claimed 2010 All-Region 6AAAAA first team honors as a junior, was selected as the 2009 and 2010 Best Defensive Player, helped the Eagles to the Regional 6AAAAA Championship and a berth in the Georgia State semifinals, and averaged 9.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.0 blocks per game as a junior. She also played AAU for FBC Southeast Elite AND she played volleyball. Tori was chosen as a MHS Outstanding Senior, voted "Most Athletic" by her peers, was awarded the Outstanding Academic Achievement in Economics award her senior year, and graduated with College Prep Distinction.

Tori's favorite class at MHS was Anatomy with Mr. Kevin Cavallaro. She said it was a tough class but so much fun and he really prepared her for her college classes. She had several favorite teachers who she said had something fun about them and she felt they were all passionate about what they taught: Mrs. Jackie Angel, Mr. Kevin Cavallaro, and Dr. Randy Fair. Tori enjoyed the size of Milton and its diversity, but looking back now MHS seems small to her after her extensive world travels. Her favorite high school memories are the connections she made with others in her classes and the many successful moments on the basketball team with her teammates. She said "I will always appreciate the MHS friends and staff that have supported me up to today and will continue to do so." MHS wishes Tori continued success with her basketball career and beyond.

COVID REPORTING PORTALC19PORTAL
As students in Fulton County Schools (FCS) have begun returning to face-to-face instruction, a number of changes were implemented to ensure the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors. Among the most vital of these changes is the development and introduction of a new electronic FCS COVID-19 Reporting Portal for parents (and students). This electronic reporting process will allow for a more direct reaction from primarily the Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) with support from FCS to promptly respond and address student/family cases of COVID-19.

ACADEMICS
CERTAMEN
Milton Novice Certamen is State Runner-Up!
Kudos to the Milton Novice Certamen team for a close-fought state championship against rival Walton. Certamen is a quiz-bowl style game for students of Latin, Greek, and classical civilizations. It allows students to demonstrate their knowledge of the ancient peoples, languages, and cultures, and the relationships between those topics and the modern world. After beating Walton in the semi-finals the two teams met again in finals, with Milton placing 2nd in the battle. This is the best performance of Milton's novice certamen team in the last decade! The Novice Certamen team is made up of Quinn Cross & William Swan!
Congratulations to these two illustrious scholars, continuing the Milton mores of sagacity and erudition even in these difficult times.
2021 National Roman Civilization Exam
Congratulations to the Milton students who participated in the 2021 National Roman Civilization Exam! The National Roman Civilization Exam (NRCE) is designed to test a student's knowledge of ancient Roman society. The NRCE is a test on the history and culture of the ancient Romans from 753 BC to the end of the reign of Constantine the Great. Milton's students did exceptionally well this year:
Gold Awards:
Joey Lund, Gabe Fontanez,
Nicole Nelson
Silver Awards:
Sean Gallagher, Insiya Motiwala,
Vishaal Ram, William Swan
Bronze Awards:
Sydney Lynch
Special congratulations to Luke Ortwein, Quinn Cross, & Teddy Sambol for their success on the exam as well!

ROBOTICS
The MHS Robotic Eagles stood out in the 2021 Georgia FIRST Tech Challenge State Championship over the weekend. For the second year in a row, the team advanced to the World Championship. The team was awarded the prestigious Innovate Award from Collins Aerospace for their original approach to the game through the use of real-time object recognition, ambitious design, and precise robot navigation. The team ranked second overall in the State based on the number of points earned in the games and their judging performance. Team captain Yasha Jeltuhin was named a Dean's List Semifinalist for his contribution to robotics. The team is also bringing home a number of other trophies: the Compass Award in recognition of the team coach, the Runner-Up Promote Award, a pit decoration award and an award for the best mascot. Congrats to the Robotic Eagles for an outstanding performance this season.
The Robotic Eagles is a year-round club. We are looking for new members proficient in Java programming. Join us next year for another great season!
