NLx Launches Job Resource to Support Displaced Workers During Pandemic

NASWA and DirectEmployers Association announced the launch of NeedAJobNow.usNLx.com, a job site dedicated to providing a centralized location for displaced workers to access employment opportunities from U.S. corporations with immediate hiring needs due to the novel cornaovirus.

Search for Virtual Jobs

 Virtualjobs.usNLx.com provides a one-stop shop for work-from-home employment. Many virtual jobs require only a personal computer and internet connection.

Search COVID-19 Essential Jobs in New York State

NYHireNow.usNLx.com is now live to search jobs from employers in New York state who are hiring as a result of COVID-19.
IMPLEMENTING UI FRAUD ALERTS
The NASWA UI Integrity Center recently presented a webinar on Integrity resources that can be utilized by states during the current crisis.

These services include providing credentials to all states to use the Fraud Alerting capability via the Integrity Data Hub (IDH), including states who do not currently participate in the IDH. In addition, the webinar highlights valuable on-line training modules on topics such as Claims Adjudication also available free of charge to all states.

NASWA’s legislative priorities highlight initiatives focused on ensuring state workforce development efforts meet the needs of employers and improve the overall skill level of workers across the nation. NASWA’s legislative agenda is comprised of five main categories with 10 specific points for Congressional action.

NASWA'S STATEMENT ON CARES ACT
“We commend passage of the CARES Act that provides states new relief options to help our nation’s workers and employers during this unprecedented time. States are working tremendously hard to handle the unparalleled influx of unemployment insurance claims and process these benefits."

Conference Corner
Based on the latest projections regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, we remain hopeful that our conferences and meetings from June 2020 through the end of the year will proceed as scheduled. 
 
Should everything continue as planned, please know we will work closely with local public health officials and meeting venues, taking full precautions for the safety and well-being of our attendees. 
 
We continue to closely monitor this situation and will make adjustments as necessary.

2020 VETERANS CONFERENCE
KEYNOTE ANNOUNCED
The 2020 NASWA Veterans Conference will be held August 12-14 in Washington, DC.
Tenacity, determination, grit and an innate ability to lead has defined Shannon Huffman Polson, who has accomplished many “firsts” in her career as an Army officer, corporate manager and author. Another first will be her keynote address at the Seventh Annual NASWA Veterans Conference in August 2020!

An adventurous young woman, she summited Mount McKinley (now Denali) and, at the time, was the youngest woman to complete the attempt. Nominations are now open for the 2020 Mark Sanders Award for Exceptional Service to Veterans, with special emphasis on Veterans with Significant Barriers to Employment.

The award will be presented during the Seventh Annual NASWA Veterans Conference, August 12-14, 2020, at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Washington DC.
