THIS SUNDAY'S
DISCUSSION
"Forest Bathing"

Diane Shields, Leader

In Person ONLY

Sunday, July 17, 2022

The Japanese phrase “Shinrin-Yoku” translates roughly to “forest bathing” or absorbing the forest atmosphere. Many studies show the physical and mental health benefits of this practice. There will be a short discussion of the concept, followed by practicing it in our Memorial Woodland Garden, weather permitting. Some may consider this a spiritual practice to better experience the interconnectedness of all life on Earth, and an expression of our 7th UU principle.

So we can begin the discussion promptly at 10 am,
please arrive by no later than 9:50 am.
Upcoming
Summer Session Discussions
Sunday, July 24 — In Person ONLY

"Coping with Today's Supreme Court"

Recent Supreme Court decisions have changed foundational precedents. More significant decisions are expected to come. At this summer conversation with Rev. Sue Browning, together we'll reflect on the ways our UU values guide us in challenging times, and in particular consider, "What questions are we now asking (and why)?"

  • Rev. Sue Browning, Leader

Sunday, July 31 — Jointly with UUFE, Zoom ONLY

"As Our Traditions Overlap"

This will be a joint UUCR/UUFE virtual only (Zoom) service. Our service will be led by Cassie Montenegro, a seminarian from Harvard Divinity School. Details on the service and the link coming shortly.

Kent County Food Pantry Items Needed
The SCSJ Committee is launching a collection of personal supplies and limited food items for the Kent County Food Pantry. Most in need are personal care and cleaning items, as well as a few special requests for food items. Some of the items requested include soaps, toothbrushes, shampoos, toilet paper, disinfectants, and deodorant. Food items include coffee, olive oil, and vinegar. Please check the UUCR lobby bulletin board for a complete list of needed items. Donated items can be deposited in the bin located in the UUCR lobby. Thanks so much for your consideration!
Pastoral Care and Connection
You are encouraged to share your joys and sorrows with the UUCR Pastoral Associates (see below). This team is a mixed group — but all have had previous life experiences and a variety of professional training in counseling and philosophy. Please contact one, or several of us, if you “want to talk.”
