Ag Pen Pal Reminder
Classrooms: It’s time to write a second letter! Please send your second letter to your farm or ranch pen pal by February 28, 2021

Apply for a Scholarship to Attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference!
Deadline quickly approaching!
Thanks to the generosity of Lancaster County Farm Bureau, eight $1,000 scholarships are available for teachers to attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom conference. Applications are due February 12, and the conference will be held June 28 – July 1 in Des Moines, Iowa. 

Eligibility: Certified Nebraska kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers currently teaching at a public or private school in Nebraska are encouraged to apply.

For five scholarships, preference will be given to applicants teaching in Lancaster county. For three scholarships, no preference for teaching location.

The application includes three questions - a small time commitment to apply for this professional development opportunity that promises to be valuable and fun!
PD in Your PJ's!
Join Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) for a quick dose of professional development the first Saturday of the month. These casual, cameras-off workshops provide you an opportunity to obtain FREE resources and develop strategies for embedding authentic agriculture examples into standard-aligned curriculum in an interactive way. This opportunity is open to any teacher – you can join one or join all! Reserve your spot to participate today!

  • Celebrate National FFA Week by completing Task 3: Plan and Lead an AITC activity! Once your activity is complete, submit your photo here.  
  • Tip: Wear your FFA jacket when leading the activity!

FFA Advisor of the Year
Do you know an FFA advisor who creates a positive learning community, positive relationships, and goes above and beyond? The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation is awarding two FFA advisors who teach in Nebraska with $1,000 awards for their chapters! The winners will be recognized during the Virtual State FFA Convention April 7-9, 2021. Nominations are due March 1. 
County Farm Bureau Resources
To help County Farm Bureau leaders celebrate National Agriculture Week staff from the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation and Nebraska Farm Bureau have compiled a resource kit to make planning, promotion, and celebration easy. 
Race Across Nebraska!
Classrooms are invited to participate in virtual, customized lessons and hands-on activities to get their school on the map!
Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom has reimagined learning for classrooms to participate in grade-specific virtual lessons to learn more about agriculture and bring enhanced learning activities to the classroom. Classroom visit participants are entered into a race with a chance to win a prize!  

Race Details
  • Goal: Earn 10 classroom visits in your county to be entered to win a prize!
  • The race ends April 30, 2021 – your visit must be completed by this date to earn a point. 
  • Each virtual classroom visit in a county is worth one point. 

Prizes
If your classroom has participated in a classroom visit and your county has earned 10 points, your classroom will be entered in a prize drawing to be held May 3, 2021
  • Twelve classrooms will win an accurate agriculture book!
  • One classroom will win a grand prize of a $50 Amazon Gift Card!
