Please continue to support Unity of Eau Claire!

You can mail in your Sunday tithe, drop it off at the office during office hours, just knock on the door (Timothy will come out in a mask and gloves), sign up for automatic giving (see form below), go to our web page and hit the donate button. The board and staff are so thankful for the people who have gotten their tithes to us and for the automatic giving people! We know it is tough right now, but we still need to keep the center running. Whatever you can do to support us is greatly appreciated.

Is Automatic Giving for you?

Unity Christ Center is pleased to offer you this option for Automatic Giving. Now you can have your gift deducted automatically from your checking or savings account, twice per month, on the 10th and 24th. Your ongoing support is deeply appreciated.

Benefits of the Automatic Giving:
  • Saves time - fewer checks to write
  • Ensures regular financial support to Unity Christ Center - even if you're on vacation or out of town.
  • Easy to sign up for, easy to cancel.
All you have to do is click the link below, print the form and drop it off at the office. Forms will be available in the back of the church also.

Kid's of Unity Newsletter Update

The Kids of Unity's new coordinator, Kate Zegarowicz Leeson, has exciting plans ahead for this program. Her team of Carol Craig, Rob Harrison, Jeannine Colburn, and Zaria Whitacre are working on establishing a consistent rhythm and structure for teaching the Kids of Unity program. They are using the "All Together Now" curriculum, Book 1 to determine whether they want to adopt it for next year or whether we want to search for a new curriculum during the summer. So far, the advantages we have seen have been adherence to Unity principles/teachings, plenty of fun activities that use various types of intelligence during each lesson, ease of preparation, and ease of teaching.

Lesson plans and materials are ready for teachers a week ahead of time. Teachers are responsible for setting up for the lesson when they come in on Sunday.

Below are some short-term goals when the program resumes:

Develop a method to ensure that each lesson follows the Myrtle Fillmore inspired "Living Curriculum": Myrtle believed that the curriculum - that which is to be learned or known - already lives within the teachers and the kids themselves. All of us are uniquely unfolding on our spiritual path, having access to the Spirit within:

-Issue-based (intention for the lesson); engages both head and heart

-The Vehicle (experiences, activities, songs) creates a common ground so everyone can feel a connection to the lesson intention.

-Discussion (of how the issue is happening in the story, in their own lives, in the world around them)

-Creative-Experience (play in what is heard and shared and explore how issue is relevant in their own lives)

Kate will also be coordinating who is doing the children's message, so it flows better with activities of the Kids of Unity program.

Please consider bringing your children or grandchildren to this special program. Kids of Unity (Sunday School) is held during our worship time of 10:00 am on Sundays. The board of directors is excited to have this program, and have Kate on board, and looks forward to the growth in our children.

Prayer of Protection is needed more than ever in this crisis time, here is the history of this special prayer!

Since James Dillet Freeman wrote its first draft in 1940, the "Prayer for Protection" has been one of the most repeated and impactful lines of prayer verse in the English language.  It first appeared in the 1940 Silent Unity® Christmas service as:

Christ light directs you.
Christ love infolds you.
     Christ might protects you.
     Christ peace upholds you.

By March 1942, a four-line version that we know today appeared, printed on the inside back cover of His Protecting Spirit, which was written by Freeman.

In his November 1987 column in Unity Magazine®, "Life Is a Wonder," Freeman talked about how he wrote the prayer. He was in the process of writing the Christmas service to support soldiers and their families during World War II. He was leaning on the old faithful Psalm 23 when he received this advice from a prayer associate.

"Jim, if I were a woman in England and they were dropping bombs on my roof, or if I were a soldier and someone was pointing a loaded gun at me, I wouldn't want to feel like I was walking through the valley of the shadow of death. Can't you do better than that?"

Freeman went on to revise the verse again, adding the fifth line: "Wherever you are, GOD IS!"

In 1969, astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin carried the prayer with him on the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. The "Prayer for Protection" has gone on to become one of the most beloved lines of prayerful poetry ever written in the English Language.

Often, those who recite the prayer add an additional line: "and all is well." This line was added after Freeman's death. It is not a recorded part of the prayer that Freeman wrote.
