Dear Members of the Class of 1968,
Like colleges all over the country (and the world), Luther College is experiencing a spring semester like no other. Our students are participating in remote learning, connecting with their professors and classmates online. It certainly isn't the spring semester we imagined, but Luther is responding with resiliency and creativity.
Many of us are making adjustments, sometimes daily or even hourly, to these uncertain times but we wanted to connect with you and to send you Len's letter that he wrote to you, the Class of 1968, just weeks before we became immersed in the COVID-19 pandemic. We think you'll enjoy reading what he has to share, knowing, of course, that any events referenced may have been cancelled or postponed.

Greetings, Class of '68,
I am writing his letter to you on Tuesday, March 16, coincidentally, the due date to submit my letter to the Alumni Office at LC. This date, normally cushioned between the Ides of March and the St. Patrick’s revelry, has taken on a new and disturbingly more uncomfortable tone this year. We are surrounded by news, updates, warnings, and effects of the rapidly growing coronavirus, COVID-19. I know that it takes some time for this letter to be edited, processed, and made readable to you, and that by the time you receive this mailing, the current situation will have changed – hopefully, for the better. I sincerely wish for you to be safe, healthy, protected, and free from this virus or any other harmful disease that might be out there. Our lives will be different for a while, and we need to all take care of ourselves and each other and trust our medical and scientific world to bring us through this safely. So, in the meantime, wash your hands, lower the curve, and be safe.

new partnership
with Northeast Iowa Community College, NICC, has been established for social work students to follow their study at NICC with two years of follow-up at Luther for an enhanced degree program.

And, in what could not possibly be a more timely program, a
new global health program
will be launched in the fall of this year.
