January 29, 2021
Dear Huskies,

As we end an eventful January, we have every reason to be optimistic about the months ahead. COVID-19 numbers have taken a significant downturn, and a number of our students will be returning to campus next week for academics, athletics, and afternoon activities. It’s also the time when we begin to think of next fall and the 2021-22 school year.

For all our returning families, contracts will be issued on Monday, February 1, and February 19 for those seeking financial assistance. Each set of contracts has a corresponding due date which will be clearly stated. We sincerely appreciate your returning the contracts in a timely manner so we are able to plan effectively for our staffing needs next year.

For RHP and Renaissance parents, the time has come to begin building your child’s course schedule for the 2021-2022 school year. You are invited to participate in the process with your child, their advisor, learning specialist (where applicable), and other relevant stakeholders.

Please review the grade-level course requirements and offerings in the Rolling Hills Prep and Renaissance Schools Middle and Upper School Curriculum Guide for 2021-2022 and discuss the course options with your child. Feel free to contact advisors, learning specialists, current teachers, program coordinators, and/or division heads if you have questions about which courses would be best for your child.
Students should submit their wish list forms by Sunday, February 6. The submitted course requests will then be reviewed by subject-area faculty, advisors, and learning specialists (where applicable) and will be approved if eligibility is confirmed by teachers and administration.

Once course lists for each student are finalized, student schedules will be drafted and shared with students before the end of the current school year.

Thank you for your commitment and attention to this process and to All Things Husky!

International Week 2021
Please join us as we celebrate International Day in a new and different way this year. Each year, many of us look forward to seeing the bright colors of a multitude of country flags as they grace the front lawns of our campus, signaling the start of International Week. While we will not be pulling up to that beautiful sight as we start our week, we will be adding a few new traditions to the mix, along with our crowd favorite, International Week Coffee House.

Our Music Director, Mr. Rancont, will be working with student performers to bring an international twist to what they perform for Coffee House, while also looking for students to share an aspect of their cultural heritage with the group, such as an artifact, clothing, symbol or story. Please contact Mr. Rancont at TRancont@rollinghillsprep.org if you would like to discuss a performance or heritage moment that you’d like to share during Coffee House. Look for more details in your weekly advisory letter.

Additionally, the Parent Association will be accepting family recipes to be included in an International Recipe Book for all to enjoy. More information regarding submitting heritage recipes will come to you through your grade level parent over the next weeks.

Students, keep your eye on the mail in the coming week for a special surprise!

Senior Speeches
Cooper Esquibel

"Right now we are living in a time of unprecedented chaos, but I rarely hear people discuss how out of our hands most of it is. I say we move forward with what we can do and choose optimism."
Xinyu (Katherine) Gong

"The bond between Cement and I grew stronger. She seemed to recognize the hard work to care for her and she grew even closer to me. Every day when she climbs up to my bed and lays next to me and I watch her quietly fall asleep, that is the moment when all my stress and tiredness fly away."
