At the direction of the Bishops of the Episcopal Church in Connecticut, all our parishes in Connecticut will have no public services until May 10 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Please read the Interim's message for more information.

Almighty God, you alone can bring into order the unruly wills and affections of sinners: Grant your people grace to love what you command and desire what you promise; that, among the swift and varied changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

A Message from Father Norman

Dear beloved Trinity friends:

As we enter the third week of our world of closed buildings and online worship, I want you to know how much you are all in our thoughts and prayers. The Trinity leadership team, lay and ordained, each day talk to one another to seek how we can serve you in the name of Christ. Casey Rousseau and Jake Troiano have worked tirelessly to bring our online Sunday morning worship to you. The views on YouTube so far have exceeded our average Sunday attendance of late, which encourages us to keep bringing these virtual offerings to you. We are now preparing to bring services to you for Holy Week. Thanks to Jackson Merrill and Martha Freimuth for their faithful participation in this video worship. We have used Zoom meetings to plan greater pastoral connections during this time of social distancing. We will also address issues of outreach, communication and Christian formation using this powerful online face-to-face forum. Do not hesitate to call me on my cell phone, 860-986-3289, or email me at [email protected] .

The Assistant to the Rector, Barbara Roos, handles requests for access to the buildings. While they are closed for normal gatherings and our goal is to have as few people on campus as possible, from time to time, individuals have valid reasons for coming in. She will coordinate that activity. Please contact her either through her email at [email protected] or by calling the office at
860-527-8133 and dial ext. 204. Barbara is monitoring her phone and emails.

As we continue to walk through this extraordinary time, we are learning how to be together in the Spirit, even when we are physically apart. God walks with us.

In the name of Christ,
Norman

Places of Prayer and Inspiration During the Crisis:

Please remain connected through Trinity's own website and share liturgy through our new Youtube channel:

Our website is the parish's primary online presence.  Visit it for news updates and links.

Our YouTube channel includes videos of recent Sunday services, filmed since face to face worship was suspended, and video meditations for special days.  Featured so far are the Third and Fourth Sundays of Lent, and the Feast of the Annunciation.  New videos are posted each Sunday at 8 AM, and on special days.

Lenten Offering for the Diocese of Jerusalem:
Urgent Appeal

As in year's past, Trinity will continue its support of the Diocese of Jerusalem and the Ahli Hospital for the Ash Wednesday (February 26th) and Good Friday (April 10th) offerings. We always extend this offering period throughout all of Lent, since we cannot all make those services. With the church closed due to the Coronavirus, our gifts are still needed! We have received word that the virus will soon descend on Gaza. However, in Gaza, there is no possibility of social distancing as most people live in refugee housing that is extremely crowded. Gaza is one of the most confined populated areas on our planet.

During this holy season of Lent, remembering our brothers and sisters where our faith began, is so important. Please make checks out to Trinity Church with AFEDJ (American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem) and send to the church office. Or you can send your donation directly to AFEDJ at: 25 Old King Highway North, Suite 13, Darien, CT 06820. If you would prefer to send an online donation, please go to www.afedj.org Choose Donate/Ahli Hospital, Gaza.

In addition, the Outreach Team met via Zoom on Thursday evening March 26th and voted to send $3,000 immediately to AFEDJ for the hospital. Your pledge dollars are going to be helping a wonderful small hospital that will be doing very difficult work. The people of the Holy Land thank you!

Holy Week and Easter at Trinity Church

The closure of our buildings will continue through Holy Week and Easter this year.  But worship will continue in spirit and in heart, as well as through video taped services for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday.

Videos for each of these services will be posted on our YouTube channel as the day arrives.  In addition, the service leaflet for the day, including liturgy and announcements, will be posted on our website.  A reminder email will go out the morning of each of these days.

Watch this space for a notice of a special joint celebration (with several other Episcopal Churches ) of the Tenenbrae for the Earth on Wednesday of Holy Week.
