Q: I get a lot of communication from investment companies asking me to vote on this proposal or that. Do I need to do this?

A: The short answer is no. It’s not a requirement and you won’t be in trouble if you don’t. Investment firms are required to send you these requests. They have to get shareholder approval for some administrative and other changes and need a certain percentage to respond for those votes to be valid.
