CHALKBEAT DETROIT:
WHAT DOES IT TAKES TO GET
THROUGH COLLEGE?
DPTV project follows four Detroit high school graduates through their first year of college
What does it take to get through college?

Through a joint effort between Chalkbeat Detroit and Detroit Public Television , follow the journeys of four Detroit public high school graduates as they navigate the challenges of their first year of college.

In the first installment , we meet the Lori Higgins - award-winning journalist and Bureau Chief for Chalkbeat Detroit. We also get a glimpse into the motivations and challenges that face Marqell, Demetrius, and Joe as they begin their college careers at Michigan State University, Central Michigan University, and Davenport University, respectively.

DCAN is honored to have helped connect Chalkbeat with schools and students featured throughout the series.
