SAMANTHA INVITES YOU TO AN          AMERICAN GIRL DOLL GARDEN PARTY

Summertime brings many special moments to remember and one of them is Hearthside's American Girl Doll Garden Party!  The Doll Garden Party is a celebration for young girls and their favorite doll, whether it is an American Girl Doll or not. During the event, girls and their moms will learn about Samantha Parkington, the American Girl Doll who grew up in her grandmother's mansion in 1904, similar to Hearthside. Everyone will imagine what it was like to be Samantha and how she would have spent her summers during that time.  The stories of the American Girl Dolls are a wonderful way in which we help to preserve history at Hearthside. 

A delightful presentation given by American Girl Doll collector, Lisa Minca and her daughter Thea, brings Samantha to life as she describes what her life would have been like during that time. A real treat is seeing the beautiful display of the original Samantha doll, which was one of the three historical dolls which began the American Girl Doll in 1986, and includes Samantha's friends and all her summertime accessories. 

More fun is in store as the girls learn about flowers and their meaning.  Then they will get busy with a craft activity using flowers.  After enjoying Garden Party summertime refreshments, it's time to get up from the tables and go out and play, as the girls try their hand at some old-fashioned games on the lawn including graces, rolling the hoop, and croquet.  And then it's time to go indoors and see what life might have been like growing up in a big house like Hearthside over a hundred years ago.  

As a memento of this special day, we'll take a keepsake photo that will be mailed out after the event, suitable for framing.  There will also be some beautiful raffle prizes to take a chance on.  Tickets are 3 for $5 or 12 for $10, so be sure to bring cash to purchase your tickets!  The prizes will be drawn at the end of the second seating.  At the conclusion of both seatings, there will be an array of doll clothes and accessories available for purchase in our Gift Shop. 

Because of the program activities and the craft, the age for the Garden Party is 5 and older accompanied by an adult.  We realize that girls today have so many beautiful dolls, but we ask that you please limit it to just one special doll to bring to this event.  There simply isn't room to accommodate more than one doll per girl (and then mom will be stuck carrying the doll around all day!). 

This informal event is held rain or shine, under a tent.  Alternative activities will take place if it is too wet on the grounds to play the lawn games. There are two seatings to choose from at either 12 noon-1:45 or 2:15-4:00 p.m. in order to try to best accommodate as many girls as possible without crowding.  Advance ticket sales only through the link below.  A limited number of tickets will be sold. Tickets are $24 per child and $14 per adult.
