Dear Friends,
Blessings to you on this Fourth Sunday in Lent. Our first worship video is ready, and I invite you to tune in by clicking below. We have provided a written order of service as well if you'd like to print that off, but you won't need it. The liturgy and lyrics are provided on your screen, so you can follow along that way.
We would appreciate your
feedback
on this worship video as we continue to strive to "be church" with you during this stressful and uncertain time.
As the "shelter in place" order for Illinois begins at 5pm today, you have our love and prayers. Stay in touch and let us know what you need. You are loved and never alone.
With gratitude and hope in Christ,
Pastor Jeff

Welcome and Call to Worship
When the world no longer feels like a paradise, when creation bares its teeth, when we look around and feel small and afraid,
We worship.
When authorities stumble, when neighbors tremble, when the way ahead looks more barren than beautiful,
We worship.
We worship because prayer and song give us courage.
We worship because the Good Shepherd walks through valleys with us.
We worship because Jesus calls us to care for those in need.
We worship because the very last word is "love."
Let us worship God, tender and just.
Opening Hymn
No. 450 Be Thou My Vision (verses 1, 3 and 4)
Call to Confession
Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, what a chaotic and stressful and unsettling week. Our hearts are heavy with many situations and people right now - the spread of COVID-19, the disruption to our lives, the uncertainty about what's next. We ask for your peace in the midst of chaos. We ask for your hope in the midst of despair. We ask for your courage in the midst of uncertainty. We ask for your forgiveness in the midst of harm. Help us to be gentle with ourselves. Help us to love our neighbors. Help us to discern what is best, to be good stewards, to look out for the vulnerable and pray for all impacted by this virus, especially those caring for the sick and leading prevention efforts. Amen.

Affirmation of Faith
(The Apostles' Creed)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer and the Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
