Educator of the Year: Call for Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2021 Educator of the Year Award at HUHS until 3:00 PM on Friday, March 5, 2021, from students, parents, other teachers, staff, and administrators to provide recognition for outstanding educators.
Nomination forms are available by clicking HERE or from the receptionist at the main entrance at HUHS. The nomination form must be signed to be valid and include a written essay nominating a specific educator from the HUHS District.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any full-time educator with at least three years of education experience in the HUHS District is eligible for the award. There are specific criteria, which are used in making the final selection. The criteria are listed on the nomination form and include how well the educator: encourages learning, makes a difference with students, serves as a good role model for students, and fits the concept of an outstanding educator.
Nominations may be submitted by mail to Mary Lynn Christian, HR Supervisor, by email to marylynn.christian@huhs.org, or in-person to the receptionist at the main entrance of the school. All nominations must be received by the March 5, 2021 deadline. The committee will meet the week of March 18, 2021, and the HUHS Educator of the Year for 2021 will be chosen and announced shortly thereafter. The award will be formally presented at the Hartford Rotary Banquet in May. Nominees will receive a copy of all nominations submitted on their behalf.
We encourage everyone from the community to participate in this process. There are many outstanding educators at HUHS, and it is a very difficult task for the selection committee to select just one recipient of the award. It is important we receive input from every part of the HUHS community, so please participate by nominating the educator you feel is most worthy of this award. Thank you for your participation.
We understand that you may have questions about the change to block scheduling for the 2021-2022 school year. The counselors will be visiting classrooms the week of February 8 to explain how the block schedule works, distribute information about how to select classes, and answer questions. We ask that you wait to schedule individual meetings with counselors until after the presentations next week.

Counselors will use Financial Literacy classes on Monday to meet with juniors. For those who had Financial Literacy 1st semester, you are assigned to an information session during Flex in Room 93/95:
  • Students with last names A-F: Tuesday, February 9
  • Students with the last names G-K: Wednesday, February 10
  • Students with the last names L-R: Thursday, February 11
  • Students with the last names S-Z: Friday, February 12
