In this newsletter, you will find information about new social hosting regulations for rented properties, as well as an update on the use of alternative energy systems in the Village. This coming spring, a pathway is planned between the Archer Parking Lot and the Sunset Grove Shopping Center due to a 50/50 matching grant from the State of Illinois. Options on how to dispose of holiday lights are provided - and as a reminder - Village parking stickers are available for purchase. This coming weekend is the last to enjoy Vintage Holidays in the downtown, and please see the Village meeting calendar below. At the most recent Village Board meeting, the deadline for the temporary moratorium on theses alternative energy solutions was extended until April 30, 2020.

Interested residents are invited to attend a joint meeting with the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals and the Village Board Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Village Hall starting at 6:00 p.m. Further information and updates will be provided through future Enews and printed Bridge newsletters.

Holiday Waste Pickup Schedule & Christmas Tree Collection
Weekday holidays will delay collection by one day for the remainder of the week. For example, if a holiday falls on a Wednesday, Wednesday customers will be collected on Thursday, and Thursday customers will be collected on Friday.   Christmas trees will be picked up the first two full weeks in January (January 6-17) on their regular yard waste pickup day. All trees MUST be clean; no bags or tinsel. Trees longer than 6 feet in length need to be cut in half. Visit this link for more information.
Social Hosting Regulations
Credit:  Croton Community Coalition.
Social hosting for underage drinking has become a serious issue. This is when adults allow minors to consume alcohol during a private party that is under their supervision or that occurs on their property. There are legal consequences for allowing this to occur, as dictated by the State of Illinois, which can be found here

At its most recent meeting, the Long Grove Village Board approved regulations on social hosting to include short-term rentals (oftentimes AirBNBs) so that residents who rent their homes to others are prohibited from allowing underage drinking parties to occur on the property, in addition to the hosts (renters) themselves. For questions, please call Village Hall at 847-634-9440
Village Parking Stickers Available
The 2020 Village of Long Grove vehicle stickers are now available for purchase for $10 at Village Hall. Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. and checks can be made payable to: Village of Long Grove, and either dropped off at Village Hall or mailed to the Village of Long Grove, 3110 Old McHenry Road, Long Grove, Illinois 60047. While vehicle stickers are not mandatory, revenues generated help to provide funding for Village services available to residents and businesses. For more information, please call Village Hall at 847-634-9440
Robert Parker Coffin Road Pathway at Route 83 to Sunset Grove
The Village Board recently approved an engineering firm to design a pathway from the Archer Parking Lot to the Sunset Grove Shopping Center. A pedestrian activated crosswalk at Route 83 and Robert Parker Coffin Road is also planned to help individuals cross the busy roadway. This project is made possible by a 50/50 matching grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and work will begin in the spring of 2020.
