Happy Monday Rangers!

COVID-19 Testing & Vaccine Update
UW-Parkside faculty, staff, and students are not only getting ready for spring semester to start, we’re also getting ready for a new round of COVID-19 testing. The following is an update on testing requirements, information and locations for all faculty, staff, and students.

Faculty and Staff Testing
UW-Parkside faculty and staff who will be on campus to work for one or more days per week are required to get tested at a frequency of once every two weeks (biweekly). This practice aligns with UW System Policy SYS 600-01: Interim: Spring Semester 2021 COVID-19 Testing Requirements.

Employees who are working virtually can test at your own discretion. All employees who wish to be tested weekly may schedule appointments to do so.

Vent with the Provost!
by Rob Ducoffe, Provost and Vice Chancellor, and Gary Wood, Vice Provost
It’s 2021! Woohoo! We’re glad 2020 is over. With a little time off for rest and relaxation, we’re all feeling recharged and ready for the new semester! Right?  Well, maybe not.

A national survey by the Chronicle of Higher Education based on responses from 1,122 faculty indicate that colleagues across the country feel burned out and that the effects of COVID-19 are having disparate effects on women and other groups including colleagues of color. (Click image to read)

Our colleagues in student affairs have been working, as described in
a recent Chronicle article titled, They’re Called #TeamNoSleep, “in overdrive since the pandemic began, scrambling to keep students physically and mentally safe, fed, housed, outfitted for virtual learning, and as engaged as possible in this Bizarro World version of college life”.

So, if you’re not feeling energized to start the semester, you are not alone. If you want to chat or if there’s something specific you think the Provost Office can do to assist, please feel free to call me (Rob) at 262-595-2261 or drop me a note (ducoffe@uwp.edu).

Privilege, policing and politics focus of Courageous Conversation discussion

As 2021 unfolds with a new president, panelists weighed in on “privilege, policing and politics” in a virtual discussion organized by local groups that aim to deconstruct racism in the community.

The latest in the series of Courageous Conversations sponsored by the Kenosha Coalition for Dismantling Racism was the culminating event for the 25th annual Kindness Week. The week featured activities in a virtual format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Jonathan Shailor was a member of the diverse panel from Thursday night's forum, which was live-streamed on Facebook.
