Coronavirus Update: Distance Learning Begins on Monday, March 23
March 20, 2020
Dear Saint Families,

As we close out the week of Spring Break, I pray that you were able to reconnect as a family and spend quality time with one another in new ways. I have tried to wait until the close of Spring Break to share further information about our distance learning plans in an effort to honor and recognize your need to have a break. I want to say thank you for the prayers and support. Prayers and our faith are what strengthen and unite us, so I encourage you to embrace our motto even more earnestly in the coming days, “Be not afraid…” These words from our Patron Saint are very wise and I am confident will give us hope as we embark on this new journey. This is new territory for us all, so I ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate together.

As you know now, St. John Paul II Catholic School will be closed until April 10th including all events and activities, with hopes to open our doors on Easter Monday, April 13th.

Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020 distance learning will begin. Please use the packets, materials and assignments that were sent home on Thursday, March 12th.(these are also available on portals)

On Tuesday, March 24th, we will send details on our continuity of learning, how we will support our students and families, and you will hear from our teachers. We will include expectations for students and who to contact for questions. We will also provide resources and recommendations for a consistent routine to maintain as much normalcy as possible for our little saints.

As we continue to monitor the coronavirus situation, we have decided to postpone the 6th annual Saints at Sunset Crawfish Boil. All ticket sales and sponsorship opportunities are also suspended until further notice. For our families and community supporters who have purchased tickets and sponsorships, we are still planning to have a crawfish boil, the future date and details will be announced at a later time. We truly appreciate your partnership and understanding. For those who may want a refund for your tickets/sponsorships, please email our Communications and Events Officer Kaela Lewis at Communications@jp2.org to begin processing your refund.

It is our desire to communicate clearly and effectively so that we can support each of you as we transition into distance learning. Please note that no additional decisions in regards to closure will be made until Holy week as this continues to evolve and change.

“Do not be afraid to be saints. Follow Jesus Christ who is the source of freedom and light. Be open to the Lord so that He may lighten all your ways.” St. John Paul II

St. John Paul II, pray for us!
