SPECIAL NOTICE:
NIGHTTIME WORK SCHEDULED FOR WEEK OF OCTOBER 4th

Nighttime work related to Downtown Crossing will occur between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. throughout the week of October 4th in two locations:

  • Congress Avenue and Lafayette Street
  • College Street and South Frontage Road

This work entails the installation of underground electrical connections and will create noise that may be loud.

This work is being done at night to maintain hospital access and public safety. If done during the daytime hours, this work could inhibit access to Yale New Haven Hospital as it requires additional lane closures, beyond the existing South Frontage Road closure between College and Church Streets.

Please note that these work dates are weather dependent and subject to change.

NIGHT WORK ON SERVICE DRIVES* Monday, October 4th, 7 p.m. - 6 a.m.
*The Service Drives are the roads that provide access into and out of the parking garage under 100 College Street and the Air Rights Garage from the Route 34 corridor, I91 & I95.

Nighttime work is scheduled to occur on the Service Drives this week. The work, which is the installation of drainage apparatus, is scheduled to occur overnight on Monday, October 4th between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

While service drive access will be maintained when this work occurs, it will be slowed significantly. Service drive access will be reduced to one lane, with alternating use for both in and outbound traffic. Police officers will direct traffic, alternately letting outbound pass and inbound traffic pass.

Aside from the additional nighttime lane closures on the Service Drives, College Street, Congress Avenue, and Lafayette Street, there will be no changes to the existing traffic patterns this week. Expect various single lane closures, listed in more detail further below in this section.
