Join Our 4 Part Community Conversations Series
Friday, October 15th 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Join us on October 15th for part 4 of a 4 part series.

Join us in the Tippecanoe High School’s Center for Performing Arts for a presentation by award winning author Yaa Gyasi. Gyasi will discuss her book, Homegoing. This book was selected as the Dayton Literary Peace Prize runner-up for fiction in 2017, National Book Foundation’s “5 under 35” award, National Book Critics Circle’s John Leonard Award, and several other awards.

Tiffany Taylor Smith, Assistant Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion from the University of Dayton, will serve as the moderator for this conversation.

Members of the community and guests are invited to submit questions for the author as part of our program. Attendees may join us in-person or virtually.

This event was made possible with support from the American Libraries Association’s Libraries Transforming Communities Grant, Dayton Literary Peace Prize, Tipp City Foundation, the Tippecanoe Educational Endowment, and 91.3 WYSO radio station.

Registration is required, call the library at 937-667-3826.
Fall Fun Has Arrived at TCPL
Most of you are familiar with our Summer and Winter Reading Challenges for children, teens, and adults that use the Beanstack app to keep track of your reading and participation in library activities.
This year we are introducing a Fall Beanstack Challenge for adults and families to participate in together. You’ll use the Beanstack app to earn five badges. This challenge is different in that completing the activities is the reward, and reading is just one badge you can complete.
The real fun begins when you choose an Ohio road trip, attend a Fall Festival, discover new foods, explore Miami County parks, and discover a new autumn-inspired book to read. There are so many great things to do in the Miami Valley and in Southwest Ohio during the fall, so don’t miss out on the adventures we’ve created for you.
The Fall Beanstack Challenge will take place from Oct. 2 to Nov. 30. If you participated in the Summer 2021 Challenge or the Winter 2021 Challenge then all you have to do is have 1 member of your family update their Beanstack account and register for the Fall Challenge. (There’s no need to register each family member since you will participate together.) Those new to the Beanstack app can come into the library and ask a staff member for help or download the Beanstack app by scanning this QR code or go to your phone’s app store and download the Beanstack Tracker app.
Build Your Legacy at TCPL
What do you want your legacy to be about? Giving and service are among the most meaningful ways you can answer this question. Our legacy shelf consists of a three sizes of book spine for our patrons to choose from; small: $75, medium: $125, and large: $250. Patrons will get the opportunity to work with Library Director, Lisa Santucci to customize their very own book spine to reflect their personality and preferences. Each spine is hand painted by Ohio artisan, Stacy Slanker of the Three Maries. Once completed, the book spine will be mounted to our legacy shelf on the front main street entrance wall.

Your contribution is tax deductible and will be used to support the Tipp City Public Library Endowment Fund. Purchases are at the discretion of the library director. The legacy shelf is the perfect way to commemorate a special occasion or honor a family member. Invest in what makes Tipp City so great, community.
Tipp City Library Web Archives is Live!
The Tipp City Public Library has launched its Tipp City, OH Webs Archive. Headed up by Teen Librarian Grace McGann, the internet archive houses digitized collections of newspaper articles, blogs, and webpages that patrons can access. In addition to the actual webpages themselves, any images or videos located on a designated webpage is also archived. The collection will feature local materials primarily focusing on Tipp City and the greater Miami Valley. Patrons who would like to utilize the archive can do so by going to www.tippcitylibrary.org and clicking on the resources tab.
