Low-interest federal disaster loans are now available to California businesses and residents as a result of President Trump's major disaster declaration, U.S. Small Business Administration's Administrator Linda McMahon announced.

The declaration covers Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties as a result of the wildfires, flooding, mudflows and debris flows directly related to the wildfires that began Dec. 4, 2017.
There has been a lot of concern over mud from Montecito being transported to Goleta Beach. The Chamber's committee, Friends of Goleta Beach Park, is continuing to monitor the activity that is being dumped at the beach/park with the same concerns that the general public has with the high toxicity and bacterial levels published to date. While patrons of the County beach and park understand the urgency of this cleanup project, many visitors (pier fishing, water activities, beach walkers, and park users) want a better understanding of the consequences going forward. Further analysis with all related agencies including BEACON and UCSB will continue to identify any hazards to marine life and humans. Updates will be posted soon on  friendsofgoletabeachpark.org .
The Chamber welcomed five business leaders from a variety of Goleta industries to join the Chamber's board of 25. The Chamber Board of Directors  set the course, mission and policy direction of the area's largest business association.

Incoming Board Members include Renee Grubb, Village Properties; Donna Lewis, Goleta Union School District; Matt Long, Signature Flight Support; Rich Nahas, Glen Annie Golf Club; and Tony Vallejo, CPA.

The Chamber welcomed new board members and celebrated its Annual Membership Meeting on January 24th at the new Hilton Garden Inn Spyglass Rooftop. The evening celebrated outgoing board members, Dave Clark and Francois DeJohn. The Ambassador of the Year Award was given to Emily Atkins and the Chairman's Award was given to Marty Plourd.

The Chamber  unveiled  their five-year strategic plan initiatives: Visitor Services, Old Town Goleta, Economic Development and Community Relations. These new strategic initiatives will be the top priority for the Chamber of Commerce; building upon our existing base of services and programs.
