June & July Update

Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan met with chefs from across the country in Saskatoon in June. This opportunity included an agriculture panel discussion, a trade show exhibit and
a farm tour.

Meals From the Farm in Saskatchewan schools was a great success in 2022. One teacher explained, “I think that together, we are creating a crop of gardeners and farmers who know where their food comes from.”

From climate change to food insecurity, we face a lot of challenges as a global community. Fortunately, we also have tools that can help us overcome many of these issues. Plant science – and specifically the science of plant breeding – is one of those tools.

Seafood consumption is surging globally and as this demand rises, traditional capture fisheries cannot meet the needs. As a result, aquaculture, the farming of fish, shellfish and marine plants, is starting to play an increasing role in supplying the world with seafood.
