Update Regarding Power Restoration and
Storm Recovery Efforts in the Town of Monroe
Dear Residents and Community Members,

We hope this email finds you safe and keeping positive despite the challenges we are currently facing in the wake of yesterday's storm. Understandably, many of you have reached out with your frustrations regarding power restoration in the Town. Please know that the Town is actively communicating with Orange & Rockland, as well as County leaders to gather the most up-to-date information to share with our residents and community members.

Please note the following:

  • The Town currently has (4) roads that are impassable due to storm related issues: Ludlam Road, Orchard Hill Road, Walton Terrace, and Cromwell Hill Road.

  • Service for all Town of Monroe Water Districts is expected to be restored by tomorrow.

  • As of this afternoon, Orange & Rockland has restored approximately 90,000 of over 200,000 customers that were without power in the County.

  • 61 Tree Contractors are at work in the County assisting in the cleanup effort.

  • 67 additional service individuals have been retained with more on the way.

  • Dry ice availability is very limited County wide due to COVID-19 related production issues on the East coast. There will be a wet ice distribution on Thursday, August 6th for Orange & Rockland customers. Please visit www.orangecountygov.com or County Executive Steve Neuhaus' Facebook page for details regarding time and location.

On behalf of the Town Board, thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue to recover from this storm. As always, please reach out to my office with any questions or concerns.

Cordially,

Tony Cardone
Supervisor, Town of Monroe
