THIS IS OUR AWESOME SCHOOL

RPS CHAMPIONSHIP

This week saw the return of Immaculata’s Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship after a long hiatus. Our two finalists, Mark “The Marksman” Gerhard, and Kael “Mauler” Martyn faced each other in a capacity crowd event at Immaculata Stadium (also known as room 8). It was a tense back and forth battle with its share of controversy (unfortunately, controversy is no stranger to high stakes Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship play). Finally, a winner was crowned. We will not give you spoilers here if you did not watch it; expect a video replay of the event coming soon!

A big thanks to our expert panel, play by play from our former champion Mr. Freire (2009) and his colour man Jerry Lano for providing their insight into the complexities of the sport, to our video crew for capturing this match for the ages, and a to all our fans who watched the event live in person, and on pay per view.

Finally, a huge thank you to our sponsor, Immaculata’s Ripple Effect. We would encourage all of you to check them out on Instagram at therippleeffect21 and contact Mr. Richard to help them in reaching their goal of $6,200 to complete their plan locally in encouraging responsible water consumption and internationally by sponsoring clean drinking water projects globally. Any support would be greatly appreciated.

We will have to wait for next year to see if anyone can unseat our new, reigning rock paper scissors champion. Until then, keep your rocks rolling, your paper smooth and your scissors sharp.

MATH IS HIS JAM!

Benn Jethro Sia placed first in the junior (grade 9 and 10) division of the British Columbia Secondary School Math Competition held at Okanagan College last Friday, May the 6th.

Congratulations Jethro!

GRADS' RETREAT

The grad class went to Green Bay Bible Camp for their grad retreat on Monday - Tuesday. Some of the highlights of the day were playing Capture the Flag, Team Trivia, speed "dating" their classmates, firepit sharing, getting to know the CCO university students (who are in town this month), mass with the Bishop, and an extraordinarily beautiful hike to Kalamoir Park. What a blessing it was to be with this special class of graduates for their retreat. Although exhausted, we returned home grateful to be part of such an inspiring, fun bonding experience as our grads prepare for the end of high school and the beginning of the next big chapter of their lives. We are very proud of them for what they have overcome and accomplished during their time at Immaculata and we are blessed to be part of their journey! Mrs. Drebit
